Scratch before cycles.

After advice or opinions please. Last cycle I had a scratch before my ICSI cycle. I ended up with a BFP sadly miscarrying at 13 weeks.

We are soon to try again, but this time we are having the short protocol - long story short I nearly always end up coasting and have a high AMH, so instead of almost getting to cancelled cycles each time on long protocol we are trying short.

Do you guys have a scratch before each cycle, is this necessary to repeat again? My dr has said I can have it if I want but she’s not saying I have to. Not sure what to do.

Thanks for reading, and happy Friday everyone.

So sorry for you loss, I’ve had the scratch 2/5 cycles and on the 2 I had it they were both unsuccessful compared to the other 3 which were BFP (2 have ended in mmc). I personally wouldn’t have it again but seeing as it worked positively for you it may be worth trying it again, would you look back and regret it if you didn’t have it and your cycle was unsuccessful that’s what I always try to make sure I can never look back and wonder what if. Good luck x

Thanks for the reply and I’m so sorry to hear of your losses too. I’m not honestly sure how I feel about the scratch to be honest I think I’m more focussed on the fact we are going to try the short protocol which should really help with final egg quality as I’m much less likely to coast and we think this is an issue.

Hi there, am sorry to hear that you’ve had a miscarriage. I haven’t had the scratch for any of my rounds (1st miscarried, 2nd bfn and 3rd chemical.

I personally think that if it’s going to work, it’ll work! As long as you don’t have any regrets, I’d go with your gut instinct 💕 xx

Sorry for your loss. I've had three rounds. 1st long protocol and got BFN.

2nd and 3rd were both short protocol - exactly the same drugs, dosages etc. I had a scratch done before the start of the 2nd round and got BFN with that round. Got BFP with third round.

I’ve had a scratch on all 3 of my DE cycles 1st was a chemical 2nd bfn 3rd bfp. Personally I would have it again as wouldn’t want the what ifs going round my head if it didn’t work. X
