Really looking for some support and advice. I am 44 & have been trying for years with failed natural pregnancies and IVF/ICSI. We are now at one last attempt due to age looking at going to Alicante IB a and wondered if anyone has tried them or communicated with them and can offer any advise at all? We are also considering other abroad clinics but this is coming out at the top due to guarantee programme if we can actually get selected for that.
Really, really appreciate anyone coming back to me xx
Best of luck to you all

I contacted them but decided against them in the end partly because they wanted me to start treatment in the UK but could not give me a prescription that I could take into a normal pharmacy and partly because when I quizzed their telephone company about the strange stork company they wanted me to get my expensive meds from, the telephone operator said it doesn't work.
I checked the place they wanted me to get meds from and it was not a registered pharmacy.
If you are eligible for a guarantee programme with them, presumably you are still young enough to be accepted by a guarantee programme in the UK.
I did not know you could get a guarantee programme in the UK ? Unfortunately I am just 44 so may not be possible but if you do have any details of clinics that do that I’d love to hear back from you. Yes I am finding email correspondence a little difficult and confusing unfortunately 😢
If you are planning to use donor eggs, you may be able to buy one, but I don't know for sure. I think you have to pay for three rounds so it is expensive, but they may have loans in place or finance packages. Bourne Hall clinic have links with some of the companies. I think I read on here that one was called access fertility.
If you want to try with your own eggs, you won't be eligible for the guarantee programmes in the UK at 44 as chances are very slim by then if you use your own eggs. At 41 I was too old for the guarantee packages in the UK. I started using my own eggs then switched to donor eggs.
Hi I used IVF Spain clinic in Alicante. They have partner clinics in UK so use them for the mock cycle scans, and you get your meds via the spanish prescription through partner clinic. There was a specified person in partner clinic to deal with it. You also Skype call with them to cut down visits. Advice - if you can go out of season it's much cheaper. I had initial treatment May last year but sadly miscarried twice. This year I went feb - flights were dirt cheap £17 as was accomodation. Currently 28 weeks pregnant. I also bought as much meds as I could in spain as they had partner pharmacy round the corner and drugs much cheaper than UK. Good luck x x x
I’m 15wks from donor eggs from the same clinic as you and am gobsmacked to here they have partner clinics in the UK!?!?! I wish they’d told me that as I had to pay privately here in the UK for all my scans, I assume they were free if you went to their partner clinics??? X
Congratulations on your pregnancy. Don't worry the partner clinic wasn't free! You paid a lump sum up front when they organised paperwork and then you had all scans, prescription etc included. You could psy for everything individually but was defo cheaper to pay up front. It was my clinic in glasgow that put me onto ivf spain. Same old with IVF everyone making money out if you! But hey its worth it I the end 😊😊😊 good luck with your pregnancy 😘😘 x x
Thanks so much and congrats to you !! Do you know if they offer guarantee/refund package and do you mind me asking how much roughly you paid and also what uk clinic you used?
Their guaranteed programm offers various options over the course of 18 months. You will be assigned a programm coordinator who will get back to you within few hours. You can easily purchase your meds online and have them delivered, alternatively you can purchase them in Spain. Among their satellite clinics to go for scans there’s the Guys hospital in London.
I am not totally convinced about the consultant I’ve been assigned and may ask if it’s possoble to change. My donor cycle was cancelled after I travelled there but they did a transfer with another donor which was compatible. Sadly it didn’t work.
If you can avoid travelling there in summer months it’s best as fares are very expensive. Nevertheless they have good reputation and will reimburse the full amount if a viable pregnancy (25 weeks) is not achieved within 18 months.
As I said, my only doubt so far is about my consultant.
Wishing you all the best, today is a bad day for me (got my BFN yesterday) but I keep my faith - that’s really what I have left.
Ps. Donors programm at IB is suitable up till 49 years of age.
Best of luck, if you need any further info feel free to contact me.
Thanks so much this is so helpful. Can I please ask your consultant as we have got that far and one of my hesitations 😬. Feel free to respond in email and were you trying with donor eggs? So sorry to hear it did not work this time and sending you hugs x
Hello Donna, sure, I will write later on a private message. I find it unfair to leave bad comments on a doctor on a public forum as it may just be my impression. When I circle fails I also guess it’s humsn to look suspiciously to the consultant.. thanks for your positive thoughts and catch up later. xx
me and my wife we are trying to have children around 8 years, we have tried 5 times including 2x for donated eggs; it really is very complicated and we have difficulty totally trusting in a clinic and continue to make traditional egg donation. We found a clinic in Greece (Embryolab) that makes 4 attempts of embryos and if it does not succeed returns 50% of the money. We are also evaluating IB Alicante but at a value not even above the clinic in Greece. Detail: we are in Brazil and still it is more feasible to do the treatment in Europe because here it is very difficult egg donation. But we continue with faith trying to have the dreamed son. Thanks and I await your considerations.
