I have been through 4 MNC cycles. 2 had empty follicules with no eggs and 2 returned eggs of bad quality that didn't made it to day 3. I know my situation is pretty much desperate but as last resort I would like to contact this clinic. Would any of you had previous experience and have they been helpful with DOR and bad egg quality?
What is a MNC cycle? I can't help you but just wanted to double check you hadn't had any xrays in the period before egg collection. I think the xrays can damage the eggs.
Hi Moira, MNC is a modified/ managed natural cycle. Which means that the medication is minimal and the aim is to retrieve only one egg. This protocol is applied for diminished ovarian reserve and low responder to medication. It is the ultimate chance to retrieve some viable eggs. Apparently the bad quality of my eggs might be due to my age (37) and potentially some genetical condition, (my sister suffered the same issue). Although we have controlled for the usual genetical test that could predict deficiency and we have been cleared, so the condition might be genetic but we don't know what the issue is specifically. I will have a meeting with an endocrinologist next weeks to check thyroid and other glands that could impact hormone balance and fertility.... to be continued...
The CRGH was my clinic and would still be if I hadn’t had to move overseas with work. They are the only clinic to have gotten me a BFP (I just can’t sustain them) and good number of good quality embryos. Their protocols meant I wasn’t overstimulated and produced a good number of good quality eggs- I’ve been using a clinic in the country I’ve been living in who use a different protocol and who have never managed to get quite as good results as CRGH. We’re thinking of me cutting my contract short so we can go back to the CRGH. I think they are worth every penny. Hope that helps and good luck.
Hello, Many thanks for your feedback. That's very helpful. Do you remember what the difference in protocol was? When you say that they didn't overstimulate you, where you on a modified natural cycle? Thank you
With CRGH I was on a gondratrophin/cetrotide refine which used menopur which has FSH and LH (the lutenising hormone matures the eggs) and whilst stimming they were careful to monitor my blood levels to ensure the best results. We got 12 excellent quality eggs, put 2 back (BFP which we lost) and froze 4. The clinic i’m with at the moment used Gonal F which doesn’t has LH. They didn’t monitor my blood levels, we got 27 eggs, got two ok quality embryos and were only able to freeze one.
My view is that CRGH know what they’re doing, tailor your treatment to suit the patient (I have stage 4 Endo, adenomiosis, polycystic ovaries and fibroids) to get the best results which is why they seem to have some of the highest success rates in the U.K.
