Hi ladies
I had 18 eggs collected last Friday, of which all were mature enough for ICSI. We were told on Saturday that 8 had fertilised. When I was told about fertilisation, I was also given my transfer appointment - and didn’t receive any more updates until today.
At today’s appointment, we were told that of the 8 that fertilised, 3 had made it to blastocysts. The embryologist confirmed though that they were early stage blastocysts - two of them were at stage 2 (of 6 stages). For this reason, they couldn’t give them a full grading apparently. We were then told that we needed to decide whether 1 or 2 should be transferred but that they’d recommend transferring 2.
It was pretty big stuff as I had not thought about transferring 2 at all. On balance, we did decide to transfer 2.
What I am so confused about is that I thought day 5 blastocysts were good news! Presumably, they survived the pre-blast stage. If blastocysts are stronger, I am slightly confused why they recommended transferring two. If anyone has any insight or had a similar experience, I’d be really grateful to hear about it.
It stressed me out quite a bit (as have a lot of things along this journey!), but I am of course so grateful that we have got to this stage. 🙏
Best of luck to all! ❤️ Xx
