Hi everyone. So I’m totally stuck now.. I had planned to go abroad for treatment but now Its been suggested to me to use a clinic that does a 2-3 cycle package or refund. Can anyone message me privately and recommend clinics in uk or abroad where they have used a package?? Im using my own eggs. I’m thinking it’s a safety net for us but at the same time finding a larger amount all at once is a worry 🙈 would love to hear other people’s experience with this xx

If you are young enough I think Bourne Hall clinic in Cambridge, UK do money back guarantee packages for 3 cycles. I was too old so don't know the details.

Hi Melodyrose,

I would look at the websites for Access Fertility and also Assured Fertility, both offer refund packages and have associations with a number of clinics nationally. Personally, I have used Access Fertility and it has been good knowing that we can plan our next round without having to think about saving (except for the drugs). It is also a comfort to know that we have the option of a refund if it comes to that (ever hopeful that it won’t!!).

It seems like a lot of money up front, but the security has helped us and it also means that we have been able to plan our next steps beyond our 3 rounds knowing that if we are in that situation, we won’t have spent tens of thousands and be contemplating spending more.

Obviously if you are successful on your first round on the programme then you will have overpaid for it, but we decided on balance that if financially that was the worst case, it was a price we were willing to pay for it to work.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

Thank you I’ll have a look at those. That’s the problem we’re having, it’s so much money up front and I assume you don’t get any back if it works first time.

That’s right, if it works first time then you don’t get a refund or access to any further cycles on the plan.

For access fertility success is counted as a live birth, not sure for assured so you would need to check that x

I asked the same question last year, I think the general consensus is that it gives you that piece of mind and also when you have a baby none of the cost really matters (although, let's be honest it does! but I kinda got what people meant). We used access fertility, I am older so only really got the choice of the multi cycle - no option of the refund package. They count one go as a live birth, which I also found a relief having had a mc from our first free NHS cycle. Our first round on access fertility was a success, I do wonder if the idea that you have another go included in the price you have already paid takes some of the stress off, making the cycle a lot less stressful - not sure. The access fertility people are easy to chat to if you wanted to phone and ask questions. Hope it goes well whatever you decide. Remember to factor in the meds cost into your budget xx

If you are buying meds separately, Asda do not charge a profit on IVF medicine, so ask your clinic to give you a script so you can buy your medicine yourself. This saves a good bit of money.

Ivf Barcelona look like they do refund packages and have very good success rates but I’m still doing my research like you and don’t know what to do yet x

It’s so tough isn’t it, even the packages in uk are so expensive I think we’ll have to stick to plan of going abroad regardless. It would have been great to know we had a refund if it didn’t work to put towards another round. X

I’ve come to the conclusion that paying upfront for one round at a time with no package of multiple cycles but abroad is going to be our best option! The U.K. packages are so dear!!!! I think I’ll go to Prague... x

Same here, we’d already settled on Czech as well so just going to stick with our original gut choice x
