Hello looking for some reassurance on egg collection. Any tips? How did you feel after it. I don't really know what to expect to be honest and not helped by being really squeamish. Thanks xx
Egg collection: Hello looking for some... - Fertility Network UK
Egg collection
I would recommend a heat pack for afterwards and really comfy clothes. I found the ec procedure completely painless 😊 but sore the next day. Good luck!
Thanks for the tips. Much appreciated. I'm booked in for tomorrow so I'm in full blown panic mode right now. Xx
I felt that way too as I’m definitely a worrier but honestly it was so much better than I expected. The consultant was lovely and as I was being sedated was telling me to imagine I was on a beach, the lights were the sun and the drowsy feeling was from a cocktail 😂 Good luck x
No real advice as my first egg collection is next week hopefully, but just wanted to say all the very best of luck xx
I'm planning to take it easy for a couple of days after and they have said I can't drive due to the GA, so will be doing nothing
Look forward to hearing how it goes x
Thank you. Hope all is well with you? Xx
How did your egg collection go?
I'm ok thanks, coping mentally so far. Plan is for EC next week but will know for sure on Monday - excited for you! xx
Hello that's me home and settled now and abit sore/ feeling sorry for myself. It seems to have gone well. I had 10 collected and 9 mature eggs. However rather down as not looking very positive at the moment. My husbands fresh sample today didn't have anything in it and then the frozen sample he had died and now we have a couple from his 2nd fresh sample this morning. Fingers crossed but at the moment It's feeling abit like a wasted exercise. Xx
Oh dear... hope they have a plan/some options for you with those eggs. Massively frustrating
It’s over a lot quicker than you think because of the sedation I remember them starting, tiny parts of the procedure then them saying it’s all done now. A couple of days off after EC is good, try to rest up and drink lots of water. Lots of luck xx
I was a bit woozing afterwards for around 15mins, a bit more rest then the nurses gave me tea and toast and I went away home. Dont remember a thing about the egg collection itself, just going into the room and having sedation started then I was out! I had a sort of dull achy pelvis for the next day but all in all it was a dream! Try not to worry, I would however make the staff aware that you are very anxious. I asked the staff to give me plenty of drugs! Ha ha ha xx
All I remember is that I went into the room. They asked me to take pants off, lie down and cover myself with a blue sheet. The doctor injected a lot of anaesthetic liquid into my left hand vain then they put an oxygen musk on me. Then I was waken up and they told me the egg collection was done. Someone has written something on my right palm when I was asleep. I didn’t feel it at all.
I was ok afterwards and had some cramping the next day. I took paracetamol and it was just like some normal period pain. There’s no pain the day after.
Good to know you only experienced one day of pain. That's my other worry. P.S what did they write on your palm? X
I can’t add any further advice but just wanted to say good luck for your egg collection. I hope it all goes well for you. Keep us posted xx
I massively underestimated how I would feel after collection. So I had sedation and painkillers (they say anaesthetic but mainly it’s not), came round, felt great... for about 4 hours. The nurses telling me to take it easy and that I felt ok from the powerful painkiller and me basically being ‘yeah yeah’ (facepalm). Had lunch with my dad (he’d driven me) and he dropped me off at the airport to fly home about 4 hours after the procedure. Cue me starting to feel like sh*t as I go through security and then stuck in the airport lounge on my own for 4 hours (I paid so I could go in) with full aches, pains and cramps with just paracetamol to dull it. You also feel wiped out, and you still have all the hormonal stims to cope with too which make me angry/weepy. I then flew home to Amsterdam, got the train from the airport and cycled home. Yes. I am an idiot. The next day I still felt wiped out but had accupuncture followed by a lovely massage which helped. I’ve definitely learnt my lesson! 😐
