Hi folks, so I had this notion in my head and I googled it and kind of confirmed my thoughts. So I have an auto immune illness, chronic urticaria and angieodema. Basically my immune system attacks itself and causes welts all over my body. Dr/consultant said it doesn't recognise some cells as normal and attacks them. I b put on steroids to dampen my immune system which works a treat but ideal long term.Soooo my question is, I have had 2 chemical pregnancies/miscarriages and I am thinking could this be caused by my illness, and my immune system is attacking my embryos? Has anyone had any experience of this?

Autoimmune illness and attacking the embryo
I have autoimmune underactive thyroid and I too worry about this... I react very badly to thinks like insect bites too, like really flare up. Also had 2 early losses (natural pregnancies) at 5 weeks so only knew I was pregnant for 7-10 days before it went away... wonder if it’s antibodies.
I’m going on steroids on the day of transfer for transferring my if embryo, maybe steroids would help you? Not sure if you meant you have been on them for pregnancy?xx
So sorry for your losses. I went on steroids last year and we got the furthest into our pregnancy even saw the little heart beat unfortunately it sill ended in a mmc. I am now looking into intralipid infusions as I believe it’s my body that attacks the embryo x
I have type 1 diabetes and another autoimmune skin condition. I had no issues with the embryos and have two daughters from my only two transfers, just to give some hope xx
Ladies thanks for the replies, no Orla I wasn't on for steroids for pregnancy, they were for the illness and I wasn't pregnant at the time. I def think I will ask to b on a low dose the next time I have a transfer. Ellecook u give me hope x
