I got my egg retrieval done last week, they got 13 eggs out of which only 7 were mature and only 3 fertilized. After 5 days they informed us that all 3 are now blastocysts and frozen!! ( we are very greatful thankyou god!! ).... my clinic didn’t tell me the grading on the embryos until I asked them yesterday and this is what the sent me with out any explanation on what it means.... does anyone know what this means???
1 x 5BA
1 x 3AB
1 x cavitating blastocyst
I am nervous and extremely worried and unfortunately my clinic doesn’t really help with calming us down by giving us information... I am 33 and have being trying for 5 years and this is the first time we have come this close. Have my FET this month with finger crossed we really hope it works!!!

Hello congrats on your frozen embryos. The number is the stage of the blastocyst moving towards hatching. Five is the most developed. The first letter is the cells that will form the placenta with a being the best and the second letter is the cells which will develop into the embryo. I am not sure what the third embryo means. But looks like you have good ones. Good luck.xx
I am surprised your clinic didn't send you details of what the grading means and explain it you. That is awful! If you pm me your email address I will send you what my clinic sent with a full explanation of the grading. I'm not sure what number 3 means but the other two are very good quality, especially the first one. Good luck on your journey xx
That sounds great thankyou Hollie! I just sent you a private msg with my email. I have an indian Doctor I guess that is just the trend here to give as little information to the patient as possible!! It’s been like that throughout this process
I’m not sure on what the last embryo means it the fact that all three have been frozen is a good thing, blasts are not frozen if they don’t make the grade xx
