Hey! We are looking to start 2nd fresh cycle of ICIS after two neg tests and 2 miscarriages from the four embryos from first cycle. I have been offered the endo scratch! Has anyone had this? What does it involve? Any success stories? Wishing you all luck on your journey 💕
Endo scratch!: Hey! We are looking to... - Fertility Network UK
Endo scratch!
I had the scratch before my 1st fresh transfer.
I suppose it depends who is doing it - I had to pay for it as my NHS clinic didn't offer it.
It is a couple of seconds of pain - but then it is over. I still took it easy for the rest of the day after the procedure.
I wouldn't do a cycle without it as it has a good bit of research saying it increases your chances.
My cycle didn't work - but I got BFP the cycle directly after naturally. Not sure if it had anything to do with it - but maybe it just helped to switch something on!.
Xxx
Ive had it a couple of times. Im not gonna lie, its pretty nippy but over quickly. Its done the cycle before you start IVF, around day 21 of your cycle. Its a bit like a smear set up with the spectulum clamp and they pass a thin catheter through the neck of your cervix up into your uterus and scratch the lining to encourage fresh blood flow and generation of new tissue to encourage implantation. I think if you have been offered it then take it!xx
My daughter had it you take some paracetamol just before she said it stung but was over in seconds and her IVF was successful she is 16 weeks good luck to you x
I had one on my third FET cycle. The other ladies have described it pretty well. I didn’t find it painful at all but following it AF arrived a couple of days early and was far heavier than normal with some really really large clots. I also got my BFP the cycle I used it. Obviously I can’t say for sure that was the cause of it but I would definitely have one again. Good luck with the cycle!
I've had it a couple of times - first time wasted as no eggs fertilised. 2nd time got my bfp. Had a couple of paracetamol beforehand. Procedure was much like a smear test, with a bit of period like pain while the scraping is happening for about 20 seconds. I wasn't too uncomfortable. The worst bit was my DH was there, and the consultant withdrew a tubeful of tissue - he's not good with blood and went a bit pale! x
I’ve had it before every cycle and I’ve had positive tests 3 out of 4 times. The first cycle failed and the second and third ended in an early miscarriage each time. But I’m currently waiting for my 12 week scan following the 4th attempt 😊
I found the scratches pretty painful but only because I have a pinhole of a cervix and they would have to physically clamp it open each time to get the catheter through 😰 That had me climbing on the ceiling each time. But that doesn’t happen with most people and it’s over quickly. Just take some painkillers an hour before and you’ll be grand. It’s definitely worth doing anything that might help!
Good luck! Xx
I’ve had three on four transfers and two were bfps. It’s supposed to be similar to a smear and is over very quickly but I found my second and thirds ones painful, like I said though, it was very quick! It also helps to have a full bladder, it makes the process much smoother. I definitely recommend getting one xx
Hi guys! I had the scratch today, it wasn't too bad! On to the next bit now of my second fresh cycle x
Good luck Gem! Xx
