Hello ladies, myself and my parter are about to undergo our first round of IVF after an unsuccessful IUI (using my egg)
We’re going to be using the Lister fertility clinic in London who have suggested that I do a trail run with the drugs to see how my body responds to the meds. Tbh I would like to try all avenues, and if this means a trail drug run then I’m happy to try that.. although these drugs cost a small fortune!
Has anyone else done this as my other friends just went straight into the IVF cycle with no ‘test runs’.
Thank you Alexis

Haven't heard of this, and considering the cost as you say, I don't think I'd want to do this. What does it actually mean and what is the objective of it? Surely if they are working you'd want to carry on with the cycle, and if they weren't working you'd be stopping anyway? x
Yeah, it doesn’t make any sense. I don’t think the clinic is actually benefiting from the idea of this, other than knowing that my body is responding to the drugs.
I’ll be doing partner IVF so I guess they won’t be able to do the egg gathering from my wife until they know for sure my body has responded well to the drugs.
Ah OK, that makes a bit more sense I think, as it's much better to make sure you're ready and can take the fresh eggs, than find hers worked and yours didn't then you'd have to freeze them? You need other couples who've had the same treatment to comment really. Or ring the clinic if you've got questions x
