Urologist appointment today re: Azoospermia.

Appointment this morning over OH azoospermia and what could be the cause of it and if anything can be done to try to achieve a natural pregnancy later on. Already had 2 failed rounds of ICSI. Im very pessimistic about the appointment which i guess is a good thing as i have zero expectations of any positive news and wont be upset if the news is bad! We still have each other. I would say May the 4th be with us lol but i wont 😁😂 X

Hi One2one. So sorry to hear of the failed cycles of ICSI. It would be fantastic if they can find a treatable cause for his azoospermia - fingers crossed. Thinking of you. Diane

Thanks Diane sadly its genetic xx

Well we attended the appointment and discovered that my partners tubes etc in his testicles are not connected up properly and cells that are supposed to be there to make sperm are not there so he only has a small section in one testicle that has sperm in it that can be used for ICSI. There's a name for the condition but its not in our letter so i will try and find out what it is called. But theres nothing that can be done for normal sperm to come out in ejaculate etc. He was obviously born with a genetic problem sadly. So we are now making a new appointment to either head off to Cyprus for donor eggs or try donor sperm. We will have to weigh out our options xx

I’m so sorry that you have had difficult news today.

We were in a similar position this time last year but with genetics ruining our chances of any sperm at all.

It’s completely rubbish and I hope you are ok x

Yeah its crap isnt it. We managed to get 5 lots of sperm but weve used up 3 and only have 2 lots left. So I am thinking of us going to Cyprus for a tandem cycle. My eggs used once more with OH sperm and the last lot of sperm used on donor eggs. And hopefully we will get some embryos. If not maybe donor sperm instead. We were excited last time as we had 2 good embryos put back but both failed to implant and we dont know why. Its so stressful. Whats your next step? X

We’re at the donor sperm choosing stage now. It has taken my OH nine months to chose one that he is happy with and we’re having to move to a new fertility clinic to get what he wants.

I felt I had to let him select it though so that he felt involved.

That sounds like a great plan to give it one more chance with your own eggs/sperm. Then you know that you’ve done everything possible and hopefully you’ll get some embryos 🤞x

I wish you all the luck on your journey X
