New to here and fertility treatment in Devon

Hi, my partner and I have finally been referred to Plymouth for fertility treatment - we had our first appointment with a nurse who was quite brisk and didn't really want to answer our questions. Has anyone on here got any positive or negative opinions on fertility treatment at Derriford? is it normal to meet with a nurse first? How long before we get to see a specialist? Also they took my bloods to test my ovarian reserve but they said it wouldn't be possible for me to get the results until we have an appointment with a consultant which can be in about 3 months! I would like to know if there is a problem sooner than that obvs! Any advice on my rights to know my results? Thanks (and sorry for the long post!)

Hi, we used to live in Plymouth and started investigations down there. We got as far as having a nurses appointment (which we thought was a proper consultation from the letter we got but it wasn't). At that stage I'd had blood tests and my husband had semen analysis. The nurse was useless and also very rude. She didn't explain our test results (even though we asked) and just said they wouldn't do any further tests until my husband stopped smoking and I lost weight. We were both quite upset after the appointment. I was 'allowed' to have a hsg though to see if my tubes were clear. I wasn't given an appointment but was told to call every month near my period dates. I called 2 months running and they couldn't test me as they had staff shortages. Thankfully we moved to Bristol not long after and managed to get a proper consultant appointment straight away. I know some people on here have had good experiences at Derriford, but our first impressions were not great. Sorry 🙁

I think I know what nurse you're talking about lol! 💙 There are some really nice ones there too, which you will get to meet xx
