We just had the call that on day 3 none of our 6 embryos are good enough quality to freeze. (In mild ivf banking rounds we freeze at day 3).
They are all at the right number of cells (6-8) and a couple at 9, but all have quite a lot of fragmentation. Looks like we were just lucky that last round 1 out of the 3 embryos was good enough to freeze and now all I can think is that one will do badly when they grow it day 3 to 5.
They will monitor the 6 til Friday to see if any correct themselves and make it to blast of a good enough quality to freeze. I really don’t have any hope of this
Has anyone had embryos that have corrected themselves after day 3??

Definitely can right itself. On one of my rounds I had 4 embryos with correct number of cells at day 3 but 2 were lowest grade (high fragmentation). All 4 got to blastocyst and 3 were good enough to freeze. They said the 4th would have been good enough to transfer and perfectly able to be a pregnancy, but they have to be particularly well developed to survive the freeze/thaw process. Hope that gives you some hope. I think with 6 embryos you have a good chance of getting a reasonable blastocyst. A lot can change over a couple of days! Good luck and best wishes xx
Hi Orla9298. I do agree with "anna0908". There is time for them to correct themselves, so fingers crossed to are able to get a couple to freeze. Thinking of you. Diane
Thank you Diane! I need to just try and stay sane until Wednesday. I have such a bad stomach ache since the procedure, I think from the antibiotics, that all the stress is making it so much worse!xx
I can’t comment on whether they can correct themselves but just to add that in the same way that they say every pregnancy is different, every cycle is different too. We only had one embryo to freeze on our first cycle and were terrified we’d end up with none on our next, but on our second cycle we got 6 to freeze and it was generally all so different. So no matter how this cycle goes, there’s always hope for the next x
