We are due to start IVF and for the past year my cycle has been between 27-28 days. However this month I was ill for about two weeks with what I thought was a really bad chest infection but it seemed to get worse and be more like flu symptoms. I am fine now but AF is now 3 days late and a test shows BFN. Could being ill delay AF or even ovulation? TIA

Can illness delay AF?
Lots of women seem to be late on just before ivf, I think the stress and anxiety about starting the process can delay AF but I’m not sure about illness.
Thanks for your reply. It's just a bit annoying- you get to the point where you can finally start and AF doesn't show yet she's been pretty much regular in the prior months. We're doing our through NHS but they only have 4-5 places available each month and we already missed out on the 1st month due to no spaces. It feels like you're constantly waiting for something
Oh no, that’s awful. Does that not automatically disadvantage some women whose period falls at certain points of the month then?
@Lizzielizzielizzie Well AF finally arrived after being 3 days late and I rang the hospital only to be told they were full again so now I need to wait until next month and hopefully 3rd time lucky they will let me start. In answer to your question it seems they just follow the waiting list of who has been waiting the longest. If I don't get to start next month then it should be the month after.
Hey CC 2018
I'm in the same boat, except I haven't been ill. I'm due to start ivf on my next cycle. I should have ovulated a couple of days ago, but all opk tests have been negative.
It's bloody annoying, my body just seems to want to make this as difficult as possible.
From my googleing anything can knock cycles off track, including illness.
I am really worried they won't be able to fit me in this month if I'm too late. But I'm trying not to stress too much.
Hope your AF shows up soon and you can get started. Best of luck.
