Hi all, just looking for a bit of reassurance really - egg collection yesterday and they retrieved 30 eggs (I have PCO so had a lot of follicles and we’re doing a freeze all), had the call this morning and 14 were mature with just 8 fertilising.
Is 8 an ok number? We need some to get to day 5 and be an A-C in order to be frozen... I know 8 isn’t a ‘bad’ number, it’s just a big drop from 30 eggs....

Hi 8 is a very good number. Although if you look at it from the number of eggs retrieved, it looks so small, but looking at it from the number of matured eggs, it's okay. Let's be hopeful that you get some to freeze.
I had over 56 follicles but the consultant didn't bother to retrieve eggs from all them and she targeted just the Big ones and that gave us 17 eggs retrieved, all matured and we had 7 embryos frozen.
Hi lovely, that’s what happened with me - she got 29/30 just from the right ovary and the left was in an awkward position so she didn’t retrieve them all. I’m coming around to 8 as a number, it was just a big drop from 30... x
I had 32 eggs and 7 fertilized and frozen. They couldn't stop mentioning what a good number that was so I think its pretty normal to get only a few, despite the high number of eggs.
Hi Pip89, couldn’t read and run. 8 is a good number please don’t panic. We only had 10 eggs collected, 8 mature, 7 fertilised and 6 survived till day 5. So it can happen. I have 1 in the freezer and had 1 transferred which sadly was a bfn on Friday. Sounds really promising for you and have my fingers crossed. Good luck xx
Forget numbers, I only had 6 eggs collected and 4 fertilised. Getting the call from the embryologist each day was terrifying. I’m now 32w5d. All the best for your 8 xx
8 is a great number. We collected 14, 8 fertilised and from those we had 5 amazing blastocysts. We used one and froze 4 (sadly I am all out of embies now but that’s another story). All along our journey we’ve been told how incredibly lucky we were with those numbers. Hopefully you will be too xx
