Just wondered how many embryos people are getting? I am used a donor who’s early 20’s but only ended up with 3 embryos. 1 fresh and 2 FETs all BFN.
Will be a new donor next time and am hoping I get more as they will transfer them all till it works.

That number sounds quite low given you used a young donor. I had one transferred today, two that are definitely going to be frozen and 11 still being nurtured in the lab for review tomorrow. I’ll be disappointed if none of the remaining 11 reach blastocyst stage as I did have 22 on day one x
All the best of luck for your 2ww!!
Thank you so much. They offered to transfer two but I said no and now I wonder if I made the right choice 😬
What number round are you? I had failed a few years ago 2 transferred own eggs. Just used all 3 from first round with donor. I’m only allowed one next time but after that I’m thinking 2 in double the chance! Not sure how I’d cope with twins as doing this in my own! But you just would I guess! X
This is our very first round, our infertility is male factor. I produced 30 follicles, 22 produced mature eggs, 19 fertilised and now we have 3 (one transferred) and 11 we are waiting 24 hrs on. I just thought as it’s my first try there is no need to be messing about with 2. If this fails I might be singing a different tune! It sounds like you’ve been doing this for a long time. I hope it works out for you in the end. Xxx
I’m doing this alone and due to my age I can only use a refund guarantee program using a donor. I think things and feelings change so much when you are on this journey! Hopefully you won’t need to worry about it as this will work first time. Sending baby dust! X
hi I hope you’re keeping strong ! I’m not sure what info they allow you to have from the egg donor e.g. amh levels ? My amh was 31.1 pmol/l , I’m late 30s, I got 11 eggs collected, 9 mature, 9 fertilised , 3 top rated blastocyst on day 5, all other 6 were deemed not good enough for freezing at day 6. I wish you all luck for next time, this process is hard but we can only hope that every failed attempt is a step closer to achieving our dream xx
hiya we went double donor got 3 embryos. We pgta tested them and they were all abnormal. 2/3 blastocysts is average we were told xxx
I had 27 follicles and ended up with 3 embryos x
so I guess three sounds kind of normal! I only got 32 of which were viable when I tried with my own eggs and I was a lot older. So I just expected younger donor to produce more viable. X
Hi! I got 5 embryos from my first cycle which I transferred one but none were good for freezing, second cycle I had 6 embryo's transferred one and again none for freezing but third cycle and these are all fresh cycles I got 9 fertilised, transferred 2 and got pregnant but had a silent miscarriage and 4 good quality embryo's frozen, 4 cycle was fet transferred 2 and I'm currently 8 weeks pregnant with one baby that's been confirmed viable, I still have 2 frozen embryo's in storage, also I should mention I'm 40 and using my own eggs, that sounds like a really low amount of embryo's for a young woman, I would definitely change donor, I wish you the best of luck xx
Hi, we got 2x embryos from our first donor. Transferred both and one stuck but miscarried. We got 3x embryos from our second donor. Transferred x2 and have twins. We were devastated when we weren't successful with our first donor. We were expecting It to go smoothly but it all worked out in the end.
We had 10 donor eggs, I think they all thawed and 8 fertilised but in the end we only ended up with 2 blastocysts. One seems to have stuck (16weeks so far) and one is frozen. I was a bit disappointed we didn't have more to freeze given the start numbers but it is what it is. Our donor was 30yrs (we only found out age after +ve test) but she'd had 4 children of her own (which we knew) so I guess she has good eggs and it only takes one! Good luck - it does sometimes take a few rounds with donor eggs.x
We transferred 2 embryos, double donor, 1 took but split, identical twins. Good luck x
I'm 36, male factor infertility, used ICSI .Retrieved 15 eggs, 11 fertilised, 3 formed blastocysts. The one they used in our fresh cycle was top quality but didn't stick. The other 2 were frozen, one of which I'm now 8 weeks pregnant with 🤞
Are you able to ask donors AMH as sounds low for her age. I didn’t have a period for 2 years following weight loss surgery. Got 13 eggs with 8 blastos. Did 1 fresh 2 transfers got our 2yo, another FET 2 transfers and got our 5mo!
Also, my close friend, donor egg and sperm, one transfer, first round and Eliza is now 18months, miracles do happen keep the faith!
it’s lovely to hear about people success stories. And it does give me hope. But also makes me think why is it not happening for me? His next cycle will be a new donor so I will ask about her levels. sure if they will be able to tell me. But I suppose it is just an anonymous figure. They did tell me the age of the donors. Last time. I’m with them being so young, it made me really hopeful. X
Sadly I think we have similar stories. I had three failed transfers with donor embryos. The first time with 7 frozen eggs I was able to get 4 blastocysts of which three were normal. All three transfers failed- the first was a chemical pregnancy with early loss and the last two were BFN. My doctor said if we went with a fresh donor we would have more chances and that cycle did not go well. Our donor was proven - had child of her own and successfully donated twice before. She had 28 eggs of which 26 were mature and 25 were fertilized day one with icsi. You can imagine my shock when my doctor told me at the end of the week that only 2 made it to blastocyst. I now have one 5 day 3AA and one 6 day 3BA. This time I didn't do pgt testing so hoping one of them works. Good luck to you! I hope we both get to have a healthy baby. When you look at statistics of donor egg IVF it seems like a sure thing, so it's so hard to have three cycles fail and still be hopeful.
Yes sadly very similar. I was surprised that there were so few too. Stats look so promising. But I suppose at an 80% success rate, there’s always that 20% that doesn’t work… I have heard it said that it’s a bit of a try and try and try again numbers game… It’s lovely when you hear people have it work first time. But it also makes you think why isn’t it working for me? X
