Can somebody please help me understand the dates...
My EC was 3rd April, I had a 5 day transfer on the 8th April. Yesterday was 7 days past 5 day transfer, I tested and got a really strong positive. I did many IVF calculators on google all saying I’m 3 weeks 5 days. How is this possible? I also did a clear blue test that says I’m 1-2 week which I understand but now I’m worried and confused. Thanks

Hi Ella, the official dating of pregnancy is taken from the first day of your period and not the day of conception, and the clearblue test shows you how many weeks from conception. I hope this helps and congratulations 😊🤗 xxx
If you look at the instruction leaflet on your clearblue digital it should help to explain. Basically, although your embryo is one to two weeks old, doctors date normal pregnancies from the date of the lady’s last period so you are already two weeks pregnant at the point when you conceive naturally! Crazy huh? That makes you three and a half weeks pregnant when your embryo is one and a half weeks old.
Add 2 weeks to your ET date to work out how many weeks you are. For some reason the doctors include the gestation period (the very start of your cycle) before you have even conceived. The exception is Clear Blue, which show the number of weeks since the egg was fertilised.
Fingers crossed for a sticky embie & that you enjoy a full and happy pregnancy 😊 🤞xx
This confused the hell out of me! Nothing is normal in IVF! And my Yorkshire born husband (who understood it quicker then me) was most annoyed I’m spent more on pee sticks that would tell the wrong date! x
