Bleeding - help!

Hi ladies, I'm about 13 weeks today with twins. This afternoon went to the bathroom and wiped and there was fresh red blood. Wasn't loads but I haven't bled yet on this pregnancy and to say I'm emotional is an understatement! That was about 2 hours ago and I haven't had any further bleeding but just spotting and went to the toilet just there and now it is spotting brown (but not loads). My last pregnancy ended in mc at 12 weeks, but midwife said that from my description of size of foetus that it's likely it was a missed mc earlier on in the pregnancy. I went for my dating scan last Wed (at 12 weeks 3 days) and the babies were wriggling around and looked OK. I have phoned my midwife unit and (yet again!) they seem to have completely useless people on the desk - she said she would pass on the message to the EPU but I think I'm going to have to call back - I would have thought they'd have phoned back by now (last time I had a mc and they 'forgot' to tell my midwife that it had happened). Has anyone else had something similar - I know twin pregnancies are more likely to have bleeding, but I really can't help but fear the worst. I have no cramping or anything, but I didn't have this on my mc last year either. I've been nervous to post anything before this as I'm afraid of jinxing the whole thing :(

Hi Lilli

I'm eight weeks with twins. If you read my last post I bleed the weekend before last (before I knew I was carrying two) and was distraught. As I was still under my clinic, they scanned me on the Monday and all was well thankfully. My consultant said that going forward I had to expect bleeding as they fight for space and it was common to bleed especially with twins.......so try not to worry. He did also say though that any bleeding should be discussed with midwife and that I should always push for scan with the EPU and not take no for a answer. I would hound them Mrs till someone returns your call xxx

Thanks for your reply Minibud i really hope it's nothing to worry about. I had lots of round ligament pain yesterday so I'm hoping that they are still growing in there, and perhaps something just got stretched too much. I was only saying to my husband on the weekend that everything was going well because I had no bleeding so far. We just told our parents on the weekend so I just want these little ones to stick because we are all so excited. I'm so terrified to lose them 😥

I would chase them Lilli, esepecially as you have experience poor communication before, if you dont ask then you dont get and you're understandably distraught and worried. Best of luck!xx

Thanks ladies, they just phoned and have booked me in for scan tomorrow morning. Hopefully it doesn't get any worse but the red blood has now turned to light brown spotting which I'm hoping is a good sign (on my mc it was brown spotting followed by red blood). As long as nothing changes between now and tomorrow morning I think I'll be OK. This'll be 3rd scan in 3 weeks! xx

Hope the bleeding eases off. All the best for your scan tomorrow. Rest plenty between now and then and try not to worry. I know it is scary to discover bleeding during pregnancy especially if there has been past experiences of loss/es. I am currently 34 weeks pregnant and bled a few weeks ago which terrified me to no end. I was admitted to the Fetal Assessment Unit and was monitored for a day but mercifully the baby was fine. Let us all know how you get on tomorrow.xo
