Hey ladies at collection yesterday we got 17 eggs, but only 9 have fertilised does that suggest there’s a problem with my egg quality?

Not all eggs will fertilise so the fact that 9 have is a very strong start. Fingers crossed they continue to do well. Good luck x

How many were actually mature do you know?

9 fertilised eggs is great.

Ps looking at your previous posts I’d say they’ll look into sperm quality first since the drop came after day three with your last little embies.

She said they were able to inject 16! I know 9 is a good number but was wondering why so many didnt fertilise! Saying that last time most fertilised but none made it to day 5 🤷‍♀️

My clinic says approx two thirds fertilisation is normal and that’s practically what you got x

9 is a good number. I only had 5 eggs. 3 fertilised but only two of them were good enough to use at transfer. I had both transferred and am now 7.5 weeks pregnant with twins. Try not to concentrate on numbers hun xx

Hi Newqgirl1. It’s not often all eggs get to fertilise. 9 is a good number, so don’t fret. Fingers crossed that they all develop well and some will be suitable to freeze. Thinking of you. Diane

No! This is a great number. You are lucky that even 9 eggs fertilized. I have seen people completely failing the process. It is a fabulous number and will hopefully prove to be successful for you. I was unfortunate that my eggs did not fertile to a good number. It was very poor. I can understand the thoughts you might be having. It is never too much to have as many eggs as possible. Wish you luck beautiful.

I’m asking as last time eggs fertilised but none made it to day 5 so we didn’t manage a transfer, they said it suggests there’s a problem with egg or sperm! Sorry to hear yours didn’t fertilise well xx

No! This is an awesome number. You are fortunate that even 9 eggs prepared. I have seen individuals totally coming up short the procedure. It is a breathtaking number and will ideally turn out to be effective for you. I was disastrous that my eggs did not prolific to a decent number. It was exceptionally poor. I can comprehend the considerations you may have. It is never an excessive amount to have whatever number eggs as could reasonably be expected. Wish you fortunes wonderful.

Thanks abc! One top quality blasto in the freezer! My progesterone levels were too high so they didn’t want to do a fresh transfer. They said a couple of others still looking good but they’ll check them in the morning see if they’ve caught up!

Great news! Just want to double check - did you mean estrogen levels too high? I’m just curious because my clinic has never once checked my bloods during or after stimms. And wonder if my hormones were too high as well (i had over 40 follicles at trigger) and yet still went for a fresh transfer...

No progesterone my clinic now check everyone at the last scan (although I’m between clinics so they missed me and did it on ec day) they now don’t do a fresh transfer if your levels are over a certain number and mine was more than double what ever that number is. They said they would only do a fresh transfer if they didn’t get a top quality blastocyte (as it may not then thaw)

When I’ve looked into it there are a couple of research papers which indicate that if progesterone levels mid cycle are too high it more than half’s chances of success. Something to do with the womb lining being too advanced 🤷‍♀️

Wow 40 is an incredible number how many mature eggs did you get? X

Oh I never heard of them measuring progesterone. They ended up going into 18 follicles and getting 15 nature’s eggs. Ended up with 12 embryos and 6 on day 5. So quite happy but I have a feeling I was over stimulated. So I’m hoping that’s why I got the BFN and my frozen transfer will go better 🤞

Wow good numbers, good luck with your Fet, do you know yet when it will be?

If you have a look online some clinics have been doing it for years, mine have only done it for certain people until recently now everyone gets it! 🤷‍♀️ suppose it really is pot luck with these clinics
