Hi ladies I was hoping for some info! Now I know everyone’s IVF is very different, but I’m just trying to get a rough idea of how many scans everyone had through the process? We are due to start sometime in July/Aug (the Welsh 12 month waiting list is finally up!, yay, has felt like a bloody lifetime!!!) and I will have to take a half days annual leave for each one! The company I work for allows us to buy up to three days additional annual leave, however the window to do this closes at the end of next week. Obviously if I don’t need to buy more I’d rather not as they take it all out in one pay day, but I literally have no idea how many scans i May potentially have so I was hoping you lovely ladies could help me out with some rough numbers. Thanks in anticipation x x x
Help please....... how many scans did... - Fertility Network UK
Help please....... how many scans did you have???
So I think I had the following:
One at nurses consultation
One during down reg
Two during stimms
Obviously other appointments are egg collection and transfer
I hope I haven't missed any - sure others will confirm too. Best of luck x
Thanks hunny, I literally have no clue!! ❤️
Here's a link for a typical journey at my clinic so this may help work out the process oxfordfertility.co.uk/patie...
If you can buy three hols I'd take the lot as depending upon how you respond to treatment you may need more! Xx
I had 4 internal scans during my treatment at private clinic x
Hi, I have just started my first cycle and I think I have 4 or 5 scheduled, the clinic I'm at opens at 7.15 so all can be done before work. Might be worth checking times as if the clinic is close by you might be able to do the same and get there early. Good luck xx
I had five this last time but four the previous times.
Don’t forget you’ll need egg collection day AND the day after off if you’re having sedation.
I was on short protocol and think I had 3 scans during stimms. Would your work give you any time off for your scans if you told them? We have a special leave policy which specifically includes fertility treatment and which says I can take special leave for my appointments if I need to.
It’s unlikely, our MD hates it when we take hols at the best of times! But this all sounds like I should be ok with the hols I have left and if we don’t start until Aug I will probably only get one cycle completed this year and hols start again in Jan, so hopefully all should be good x x x
Thank you ladies this has been really helpful ❤️ x x x
Hi I’m sure you are at the same clinc as me in shrewsbury just wondering if the clinic has contacted you to confirm you will be starting in July/august?. My year wait comes up in May but I haven’t heard anything from them. Xx
Hi hunny, yep I’m in Shrewsbury too, they rang me last Monday and left a message but then I couldn’t get hold of them until Thursday, there really not the best at ringing you back!! We’ve got our group meeting In April then our consent forms in May, but they said as they are moving premises in June we won’t get to start until sometime in July/August. Apparently HEFA have to audit them once they have moved and that can take 6 weeks so that’s what’s holding them up! It’s awful isn’t it especially once you have already had to wait 12 months, fingers crossed you will be soon hunny. And hopefully you have got the nice specialist out of the two there as ours is an arse!! Lots of love x x x
Thank you for replying and for being so informative. O that’s so annoying with the hold up it’s the fact that you have to wait so long and have no idea when they will contact you that’s getting me down. It sounds there if my year come up in may I still wown’t be getting anything until the end of the year. Hope your specialist will be okay when everything gets started. Thank you and good luck with everything 🤞🏻🤞🏻Xxx
Hopefully not too much longer Hun as our time is up at the very beginning of May, they are just really slow at contacting people!! I know it’s the worst bit, even if they could give you some sort of say three month window it would be something, but it was the not knowing that really got me down! Fingers crossed, not long now x x
First cycle I had baseline scan and then 2 scans to measure follicles. Second cycle I had baseline and then 4 scans (one was on a Saturday). First cycle I was juggling appointments and work. This time round I've just been signed off.
