Very Anxious about EC now it’s near !!
Good luck for Friday. U will be awake is not geneal anaesthetic it's just something to take the edge off lovely. My 1st EC did hurt a little but anaethetic didn't touch me. 2nd EC they gave me more anaethetic and I was fine didn't hurt at all. The more you relax the easier it will be. Try not to panic over it. I watched the screen and seeing them extract the follicles / eggs was fascinating which took my mind off the actual procedure if that makes sense. Xx
Yeah I love watching when they scan it’s amazing getting to see it all !! I’m Defo overthinking it but just wanted some honest opinions I can see already everyone is different thank you for ur reply x
No problem. That's what we are all here for to help each other out. I'm booked in for Friday aswell so we will be 2 week wait buddies. Take care of yourself. Xx
Brilliant can’t wait look forward to hear ur news xx
I’ll have a wee read at that ! I’m hoping for heavy sedation as I think I will feel at ease a lot more just scared incase I feel it all think that’s wot making me worry !! Need to stop thinking about it and concentrate on end goal 👶🏼 thank you for ur reply x
I had sedation with all my ECs and it was lovely!!! Just went to sleep and then woke up after procedure was done. 1st EC - no pain, 2nd - considerable pain for a couple of days ( that was because they had to do a lot of poking about to get to the 1 egg that was retrieved. 3rd cycle was a bit of discomfort on the day but nothing that paracetamol couldn't fix. Don't worry about it - you will be fine!! x
You have lots of experience and all of them different then just shows u no 2 are alike eh !! I’ll have to just go with the flow and hope for the best I think ! Thanks for the reply xx
Hi LCB83,
I’ve just had my egg collection this morning and it was absolutely fine. It wasn’t a full general anaesthetic but it may as well have been. I don’t remember anything from the time the anaesthetic was administered which I’m very glad of. The procedure I was told was 15-20 mins so felt like a nice little nap. They successfully collected 16eggs so very pleased 🤗
When I came round I was famished so the tea n toast was very welcomed having eaten 9pm the night before, ever so slight cramp and the spotting was very minimal. Feeling absolutely fine 3hours later. Fingers crossed for you 🙏🏻x
It is natural to be nervous, but don't worry you won't feel a thing during it. I have had EC twice and I was out like a light both times. Completely asleep.
The nurses will bring you tea or coffee (I had a hot chocolate) and some biscuits or toast and just check on you every once in a while. You may feel a bit groggy, but they give you paracetamol when you are under so you probably won't feel any pain. Even afterwards I just felt a bit sore (like a dull ache) and quite bloated.
Just make sure you drink plenty of water afterwards and stroll gently around your living room (when you feel up to taking a walk) to avoid OHSS. The first time I had EC I was a bit unwell afterwards, the second time I was out of bed the next day and chatting over a home cooked lunch with my parents!
All the best for Friday! And I hope you get lots of healthy happy little eggs! xx
Thank you very much , I’m feeling a lot better about it all now I’ve had plenty of advice think it was just fear of the unknown so hearing positive stories has helped !!
Yeah I was at high risk because of my AMH levels so I’ve been drinking plenty hopefully I’m ok afterwards 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Thank u xx
Just alittle more advice. As my clinic was quite a distance away and required me to arrive by 7.30am meaning I’d have to wake up@5 and set off by 6am (even though I was taken in to theatre around 11ish ). Me and and my partner decided to stay in a hotel close by the night before. Which was the best decision ever.
Had we not,the super early start and morning rush hour traffic would have stressed us both out as it had done for the past 8scans whilst on stimms xx
We are close by so it’s half the battle thankfully x
I have always slept all the way through and not remembered anything x
Thanks hopefully I’m the same x
I haven't been through it yet so can't offer any advise but just wanted to say good luck and I'm sure you will be fine, the nurses will take good care of you xx
Thank you very much xx
I had conscious sedation and I was awake. It was a tad bit painful at one point but they topped up my pain relief and it was much more bearable then. It’s natural to be afraid, I was but these things tend not to be as bad as we fear xx
