So ended up in the theatre, legs in stirrups and they started to scan my stomach. They said my ovaries are huge and there’s a 30% chance I’ve got over stimulation so they wouldn’t do the transfer. I’ve rang them twice since Wednesday to check the pain and bloating in my stomach was ok. I know it wouldn’t have made a difference to today’s outcome if they had checked me, but wouldn’t have found out with my legs in the air! Having to have the embryos frozen, which they said was an 80% they would survive freezing! It’s going to be at least 6-8 weeks before I can start a frozen cycle. The nurses and consultant in the room had no compassion whatsoever! They were so blasé about it! It was as if they didn’t understand why I was upset. So disappointed 😔

Oh so sorry to hear that Sarah! It must be really disappointing to have psyched yourself up for that moment and for it to be shut down like that. In my limited experience, the hospital / clinic staff are really matter of fact about things, it's just another day for them and they focus on the medical side and what is best for you physically. It is an emotional thing too and so personal. But it isn't the end! And some people on here have mentioned that studies are being done to see if actually it's better for the embryo to be implanted from a frozen cycle as it gives the uterus / ovaries time to recover from the procedure of egg collection and hormones. I would spend this next bit getting back into tip top shape in order to welcome back your embies!
hope you are feeling better soon xx
Thank you. It was just a bit of a shock. Every stage of this horrible process your waiting for something to go one way or another but today was something that I thought would just happen. Xx
Oh I’m so sorry that must have been gutting. Keep strong and roll on the next few weeks x
I think it’s unlikely that the chances are as low as 80% that your embies will defrost, my clinic told me that their successful defrost is 95-97% now that they use vitrification.
Sorry you had such a bad experience, I hope that the information I’ve just shared makes you feel a little better xx
So sorry to hear this! Gutted for you. You will pick yourself up though and get the chance to be in great shape for when they do go in xx
