Paid embryo freezing and storage costs upfront....but no eggs to freeze!

Hi,

As some of you know I am currently in my 2ww after transfer on Saturday. Was talking to my partner tonight and looking over our bills from the clinic etc and we are wondering if we will get the money back we paid up front for embryo freezing and storage, as we had none to freeze and store.

On Saturday we had potentially more nerve wracking and exciting things to think about, and this never crossed our minds, but as I am doubtful this first cycle will work, we are obviously thinking about finances for the future.

Anyone been in this situation?

Niki xx

No... Give your clinic a call tomorrow and see what they say? It doesn’t seem fair to not get at least some reimbursement as you have paid for part of the service you haven’t used xx

My clinic also refund if you’ve paid and don’t have any to store or if you pay and then use them within a month of paying. I’d definitely give them a ring, good luck for this cycle x

Hi... my clinic too said they do refunds for services we didn’t use. My egg collection is tomorrow and we are going for ICSI - we were told if the sperm quality was good they will not do. ICSI - they will let nature takes it course and then refund us.. call and find out - you are entitled to it xx.

Hiya yes with our clinic we pay in full at baseline and then are refunded if anything doesn’t happen.

I’m imagining you might be due a bit of a refund given you didn’t need to use that part of the prepaid treatment x

You are definitely entitled to a reimbursement for anything that didn't happen. My clinic also took payment for procedures upfront.

2ww is just the hardest. stay hopeful and be kind to yourself during this time. Good luck x
