Very late period and very low progesterone levels on day 21

I have now been 6 weeks since the beginning of my cycle and there is no sign that AF is anywhere near! My day 21 blood results showed that i hadn’t ovulated and my progesterone was less than 1. Will this mean that I won’t have a period? I took a HPT a couple of days and got a BFN. When I was younger my periods were very irregular but they seemed to have settled down?

Any ideas?

Thanks x

Hi hun, I checked back over your other posts to remind myself of your journey. Are you waiting for this period to start IVF? It's entirely possible that with everything you've learnt over this last cycle (particularly as this one looks as if it was anovulatory) that stress is preventing your period arriving. Take a hot bath then do some exercise (especially sit ups), have sex and eat something spicy. Basically all the things overdue pregnant women are told! As these will get your uterus contracting and could kick start your period. Failing that, your GP can prescribe you provera to take for 10 days. It is supposed to increase your Progesterone levels slightly so when you come off it you'll have a withdrawal bleed. Personally I'd try the fun stuff first as it might be quicker! And it's fun!

The miscarriage you recently suffered won't be helping your cycles, and I'm not sure how confident I am in you being told you don't ovulate. You've recently suffered a miscarriage which can mess with your cycles and your day 21 was done only 3 days after possible ovulation. However. If this kick starts your IVF journey earlier than previously thought, go with it. But don't let this news put too much stress on you as it appears a little skewed to me. I hope AF arrives soon xx

Thanks for replying! I’m waiting to hear back about our funding application before we begin ivf but unsure as to what day we have to start ivf on? Okay, I will try all of that, thank you! I only have one Fallopian tube and a unicornuate uterus (half a womb) so I know that ovulation is something that I am likely to struggle with. They have bought forward our ivf from June to Now so im pleased about this! Thank youx

Hey as soon I we had our first ivf consultation my periods went to pot!!! Didn’t feel stressed. By progesterone was low and sometimes showing chances of ovulation low. I had to take tablets for 5 days then wait for period which started 3 days after stopping. I then had to start pill for a month to plan treatment for ivf. Another stress to add. Hopefully you will settle in time xxx
