IVF fail

Has anyone had success with icsi after a failed ivf? We found out this week that our eggs/sperm dont naturally like each other :o/ so only option now is icsi. We are gutted. Having to wait 3 months to start icsi.

We’ve done 2 ivf’s and one icsi. Approx the same number fertilised using icsi but my issue is more egg quality than sperm and egg issues so not sure it’s the answer for us. I’d go for it as lots of people have success with it. Just use the 3 months to get healthy and the energy to try again. Good luck x

They said nothing wrong quality wise with either (and im 38 so was expecting a quality issue really) they just weren’t interested in one another! Yeah thats what i was thinking - back to the gym, get my body prepped and go again! Its so frustrating isnt it?!! Thanks x

Yep frustrating and exhausting!! I’m on a high fruit and veggie diet, vitamins and lots of water (with the occasional glass of wine and chocolate lol). Haven’t hit the gym yet but defo will as I’d like to lose a little before we try again. How many cycles have you had? How many eggs did they collect on your recent Ivf? x

Ahh well done you. Water is most def the key to any diet! Of course you have yo throw a treat or 2 in or it would be ridiculously boring I love the gym and strength training but was told before our ivf to not do so much of it. Now im planning a 12 week challenge to help with passing the wait of our next cycle. This was our first cycle. They collected 13 and 9 were mature. X

Wow those numbers are great! We only managed 3,7 and 4. Only 1 or 2 fertilised each time but we always had something to put back which is a positive. I’m sure you’ll do great with ICSI. I was doing a personalised diet and exercise plan last year which included weights so may go back to that. But defo not good idea when stimming/ cycling. 😀 x

I had zero fertilisation with IVF the first round. I’m now stimming for round 2. We are doing ICSI but with assisted oocyte activation using calcium ionophore. It depends how the Sperm and egg interacted, in my case it pointed to an issue with the sperm (even though his analysis has always came back with good numbers). PM and I can give you more info.

Hi abcgirl!!! Nice to see you're back and have a new plan for round 2! Good luck with icsi. Glad they came up with a reason for your first round not working. How are you feeling? I've got round 2 egg collection today xxx

Good luck! How did it go? I’m feeling okay. One day at a time. Nervous, excited, anxious - all the emotions!

Definitely take one day at a time x 10 eggs collected but was painful again!

hey there Carla!..so worried you must be in this situation I am sure.See for me IVF and icsi go hand in hand so the success rate sounds equal to the both.I have myself been through all of that but no luck so I suggest to people to go for surrogacy as the success rate is much more and now it is getting popular, also there are fewer complexities. You may use your own egg there.

Thank you for the reply. Surrogacy is not for us. We will take our icsi chance and go from there. 👍🏼

Hey there. Sorry to hear about your failure. You have not mentioned about the cause of the failure. Have you thought about surrogacy? Surrogacy is the procedure in which your eggs and sperms are kept in someone else’s womb to be fertilized. And you get to have your baby both legally and biologically. You can also opt for donor's egg. It has a high success rate. Best wishes.

I’ve never had IVF as ICSI was the only option for us due to problems for my OH.

But the success rates are just as high for ICSI as they are for IVF. It’s just a little more technical. Fingers crossed it works for you 🍀🍀🍀 xx
