6 week scan with strong heartbeat - but also bleeding

Hi. My wife and i are at the end of our second ICSI cycle and had 2 frozen embryos placed last month. My wife has sadly had a number of miscarriages but upon going for a 6 week scan we were told that the sac/yolk is measuring bang on and we have one heartbeat. My wife has experienced a bit of bleeding, however, and we are worried about a threatened miscarriage. The Dr seemed positive and we are working on the theory that the bleeding is caused by the embryo that didn't take. Does anyone have any experience of this? I appreciate no one ever really knows, but as you imagine it's on our minds non stop.

Hi Lee, congratulations on the pregnancy!! It must be so nerve wrecking and i guess no one ever knows. I can say that i know 3 friends who have experienced bleeding, one quite late into her pregnancy, 2 of the babies are here safe and sound and the other is due in a month, also healthy! One of my friends even used a tampon as she was convinced it was her period but it wasn't! It will always be a worry and I think it is right to check with the medical experts but i can assure you that it doesnt and necessarily equal miscarriage!

I bleed for 3 weeks from (wk 6-wk 9) and everything was fine I am 31 weeks now (see my old posts) xx

That must have been a horrible time for you Button. Not knowing if it meant you were losing the pregnancy or not. I'm glad you are doing great. The uncertainty of ivf is so frustrating .

I had two massive bleeds at 6 weeks and then carried on bleeding until 10 weeks. No explanation at all and now I’m 31 weeks xx
