So I got the day 3 post ET call today and of the 5 that fertilised we have 4 going strong and 1 slow coach. I was told that by day 3 they like to see 8-10 cells and I asked what ours were graded and she said we’ve got a 15,14,11,10 plus a 4 cell embryos. We’ve been booked in for a day 5 transfer and have paid for the embryoscope which will hopefully help them chose the best one.
This is my first cycle so I’m not sure whether having this many cells per embryo on day 3 is a good thing or not? Am I correct in thinking that a morula is anything over 16 cells? Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Many thanks and best wishes to those expecting news today! 😘🤞🙏

Hi vansoire. Yes, a morula cell is 16 cells plus and is on its way to blastocyst. The others seem to be doing OK, with the 4 cell one lagging behind a bit. Hopefully if they increase over the next couple of days ready for transfer, and hopefully a few to freeze too. Before blastocyst transfers came along, we did Day 3 transfers all the time, with most embryos being between 6-8 cells in size ending in pregnancies. So looking at your figures, I think you are doing well, so fingers crossed they continue. Thinking of you. Diane
