Hi everyone - this is my first post!
My DH and I are currently having our 1st ivf cycle (we have unexplained infertility). After starting well with the injections (I'm on the long protocol), having OHSS before egg collection, we collected 15 eggs on Friday. However, from this only 1 egg has fertilised. This is because of the thickness of the egg shells. This embryo is dividing well, and we are booked in for a 3-day transfer tomorrow (Monday).
One thing the clinic have suggested is for us to consider the option of assisted hatching - this is because they are concerned that the embryo may not hatch/implant because of the thickness of the shell.
Does anyone have any experience about this at all? Google has the usual horror stories. We will be able to discuss with our consultant and embryologist before transfer tomorrow but any thoughts, experiences, or general questions that we should ask for us to make an informed decision would be so appreciated.
We appreciate it has its risks, it's really for us to weigh up the risks with the benefits I guess!
