Assisted hatching - thoughts?

Hi everyone - this is my first post!

My DH and I are currently having our 1st ivf cycle (we have unexplained infertility). After starting well with the injections (I'm on the long protocol), having OHSS before egg collection, we collected 15 eggs on Friday. However, from this only 1 egg has fertilised. This is because of the thickness of the egg shells. This embryo is dividing well, and we are booked in for a 3-day transfer tomorrow (Monday).

One thing the clinic have suggested is for us to consider the option of assisted hatching - this is because they are concerned that the embryo may not hatch/implant because of the thickness of the shell.

Does anyone have any experience about this at all? Google has the usual horror stories. We will be able to discuss with our consultant and embryologist before transfer tomorrow but any thoughts, experiences, or general questions that we should ask for us to make an informed decision would be so appreciated.

We appreciate it has its risks, it's really for us to weigh up the risks with the benefits I guess!

I had two 3 day transfers and neither worked , that was 2 per transfer. I wish I had had the option to allow them to go to 5 days, I then had one remaining frozen and they took it to 6 days it was hatching when they transferred I am currently waiting to see if it’s worked , my OTD is 20th , I wasnk given the option of assisted hatching but I think I would have taken it if I had as I feel like my 4 embryos may have had a chance if they had been grown longer or we would have least known if any were worth disregarding instead of transferring for them to fail due to not growing anymore. I know 3 day transfers work for some but I really wanted them to get to 5 days at least the second time to see if it made any difference , it’s so confusing what to do for the best isn’t it x
