Egg collection tomorroe

I'm so nervous right now. My egg collection is tomorrow. It's the first cycle so I have no idea what expect or even how I will be afterwards.

I'm feeling so overwhelmed right now with no one to talk. As a single person going through this alone, I didn't realise or think I would feel this way.

Don’t worry Dani9 they will look after really well and it’s over before you know it has started. I’ve done three and the worst bit is just getting the needle in your hand after that it is a doddle. Try to visualise being in a nice happy place, remember a lovely beach you have been on or being happy sometime in the past. This is the first time I have ever posted online but had to say something when I saw your post. I am waiting on FET news this morning so keeping everything crossed for us both. I think you are very brave and wish you a quick collection.

Thanks for your reassuring reassurance. I appreciate it. This the first time I've posted anything for myself.

Do you know if the procedure the same in Australia. That's where I am..

I recently had my egg collection and I understand how u feel the anxiety is the worse but believe me the EC is the easy part just make sure u eat and sleep well and take time off if needed

I am sure it is exactly the same in Australia. When you arrive ask them to explain to you exactly what is going to happen, I am big believer in noting things down as I have a terrible memory. Bring something to watch on an iPad if you have one and a few mags. Remember, you have come so far already, look back on all the appointments, tests, waiting times, you have done really well, keep going strong Dani9!

Dani9 I’m in Australia and had my ec a few weeks ago, it’s really straightforward, I was also very nervous (so much so I cried as they gave me the anaesthetic), but it’s actually really easy. You go in and the dr talks to you, then the anaesthetist talks to you and asks you to count backwards, next minute you’re waking up and looking ar your hand (that’s where they write how many eggs you have)

I recommend you have a friend/family member to come in and see you when you’re in recovery though, you’ll need someone to pick you up and drive you home anyway so if they’re able to come in and chat with you while you’re waiting to go home it will be good for you

Feel free to private message me if you have questions:)

Totally natural to be nervous, before my first EC I had to have an emergency appointment with my therapist as I was so scared, BUT it was absolutely fine, you’re totally knocked out and you won’t remember a thing. Wear something comfy as you will probably be a little sore, and see if someone can come home with you and make you a cup of tea. Good luck, any questions please just ask! Xxx

So glad this forum here. It will stop me from going crazy.

I’m having egg collection today too! I’ve just seen that you’re in Australia so not sure what the process is over there but I’ve had egg collection before for IUI and it was a bit painful after but just like period cramps. A hot water bottle and a bath will help or some painkillers. Good luck for today will be thinking of you!

Thanks everyone for your support. The egg collection wasn't too bad. Apart from mild cramping I was fine.

Out of 5 embryos only 2 made it to blast.

I had the transfer today. One transferred the other one they will freeze.

It's gonna be a long 2 weeks.

Again thanks. So greatful that there is forum for this...
