Referral criteria?

My partner and I have been ttc for 3 years. We conceived just under the 2 year point when we would have been eligible for referral to a fertility clinic. I lost the baby at 9 weeks. Does anyone know if I have to wait a further 2 years from the date of my miscarriage for a referral to a fertility clinic, or does the 2 year mark start the day you start ttc regardless of whether you conceive and miscarry? I know I'm lucky to have conceived, and people say to me "well at least you know you can get pregnant"...but I don't know that, I only know that I did get pregnant. I don't know if I can get pregnant again, if that was just a fluk, or if I can carry a pregnancy past 9 weeks even if it does happen again. Any advice and experience on the process would be amazing. We're both 28 and had the tests at doctors that showed ovulation and good sperm (although this was 2 years ago now...id like them repeating but my dr doesn't see the need)! Xx

I'm sorry to hear about your loss x

I was on the waiting list and a few weeks from starting IVF treatment when I fell pregnant. It was an ectopic and led to my tube also being removed. I didn't have to wait another set period before having IVF but I was already near mid 30's.

I doubt that you'd have to wait another two years but every local authority is different.

If your GP won't test you again you can get private tests to put your mind at ease.

All the best xx

Hi MichelleOlivia. So sorry to hear of the tragic loss of your little one. It's never easy, and I do hope you received plenty of support at the time. Best to check with your CCG details can be found on the fertilityfairness.co.uk website. As you didn't have a live birth, I'm hopeful that you will continue and get referred soon. Good luck with it all. Diane

Hiya. I found out I was pregnant a month before we were due go start icsi but I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks. As I still did not have a child and I had already been accepted to start ivf I did not have to wait but gave it 2 months for my own peace of mind. Good luck with everything X
