I know my husband has struggled with finding peer support, worth flagging this up to your OH’s x

The BBC just had an article on how men feel on Breakfast as well as the lead researcher in the studio. Might be worth watching on catch up if you missed it.

Hey, yeah the the same story as the link I posted. The story on the website also has a link to the support group for men x

I just read this and was trying to figure how to paste the link so thank you for sharing.

Everything in this article is so relevant to my OH.

As he left after his failed sperm retrieval the nurse said the urologist doesn’t want to see you again.

Then he was just left with no after care for several weeks to deal with it all on his own and there was no aftercare at all despite being promised a follow up call to discuss options. We complained and got a 4 line letter saying regrettably there was nothing they could do now and they threw in a new condition that we had never heard of before.

He was so angry with just being left and expected to cope with no support that we are now switching hospitals 😔.

That is just horrendous. Infertility and IVF is so emotionally hard, and that kind of attitude reinforces the ridiculously old fashioned view that men cant be as emotionally affected as women. My heart goes out to you. X

Thank you. We’ll be fine, a slight detour on our life plans but as long as we get to the end goal then that’s what matters. The infertility rollercoaster 😀 x

Oh hun. I've just read your response to this. This article is so true. I'm so sorry that your OH had to go through that. It's beyond words xx

Thank you. It was a bad time but we can’t let it define us. We can still be a family, just in a different way.

The most irritating bit was when they offered counselling in response to our complaints letter. As if we were being irrational about the crap treatment and that was why we needed counselling. And this was at a private clinic!! x

You guys are doing so well. I can't imagine how we would be!

I can't believe the clinic's response we would be beyond fizzing.

There definitely isn't enough support for the guys xx

This is so true, especially the bit about only talking to the women. Our last bill from the fertility clinic, which was for the genetics appointment we had to discuss my husband’s translocation, came with only my name on. Talk about dismissing the male partner!

So true Lizzie. It really needs addressed. This process is hard enough without adding on things like that which are so small but can make such a difference.x
