Hello All,

I was away for a month to India and took some scanning and blood test. My blood report says I have elevated Thyroid with the value of 5.69 mlu/ml and Prolactin 91.21 ng/ml. I was asked to take a tablet for Thyroid daily and 2 weeks once for Prolactin. Doctor is India asked me go again for blood test after 6 week. Am really worried about the result and devastated like anything, Did anyone had this experience ? Will i be OK if i take a tablet ? How long should I wait? , I get heart attack if i google how Thyroid affect the pregnancy or conception . Can i take Maca powder for hypothyroid?

Can I just walk in to GP and ask for Thyroid Test ? Help please.

Hi luv2017. Sorry to hear that you are so worried about your thyroid level. All your hormone levels need to be balanced in order to get pregnant. Your thyroid level is raised a bit, and you should be taking the thyroid medication to bring it back down. As the doctor in India has suggested, you need to have the test repeated to check that you are on the correct dose of medication – you may need more, or maybe less. However, you will probably have to take it for a long time, but don’t let that worry you, it’s there to help you. As far as I can see your prolactin result is normal. So make sure you start taking your tablet and get re-checked. Hope all soon settles for you. Diane

hi, your TSH is high, it needs to be under 2 to feel well my TSH needs to be supressed at under 1 and was throughout my pregnancy. As Diane said, its an easy fix, you will just be given synthetic hormone levothyroxine. I couldnt get pregnant or stay pregnant with raised TSH but did soon after having started levo and it stabalising. Lifelong medication, but essential for health mum and healthy baby. One tablet a day. No big deal at all.nothing to worry about, But very important ☺ xxx

Hey Misswinky,

Thanks for that..

I was given Thyronorm 12.5 mcg tablet from India to be taken daily.

I can do anything for pregnancy , and I don't know why I feel so depressed and heartbroken after hearing this..I just hope and pray for the best. Nice to hear from you all.. Thanks so much.

well, your low mood could indeed be down to your thyroid. It's the in the top three side effects, along with fatigue and weight gain. no one likes hearing there's something wrong with them, the fact its upset you is only natural. But i promise you, its no big deal. It really isn't. ❤❤
