Hi ladies at collection last week we had 18 eggs, 15 mature and 10 of those went on to fertilise. The clinic aimed for a day 5 transfer and we've just had a call this morning to say there is nothing viable to transfer. When they checked on Saturday 4 were looking good but none of them have survived (poor little embies π)
Has anyone had experience of this and gone on to have successful rounds?

I had this in my first round and it is utterly devastating! We got told this was down to poor egg quality (Im older), mine dropped off around day 3. This was all whilst living super healthy, giving up alcohol etc. I went straight to thinking about DE however felt I needed to give it another go and started taking DHEA in preparation for my second round. You can read back my posts but in short in cycle 1 we got 6 eggs, none to transfer. Cycle 2 we got 6 eggs, 2 expanding blastocysts on day 5 transferred but my period arrived on day 7, BFN. Cycle 3 we got 9 eggs and had one really good blastocyst transferred on day 5, again period arrived on day 7, BFN. So although I didnt get my BFP I did manage to do better! Ask lots of questions at your review appointment and see what changes they suggest or if they have thoughts as to why things have gone wrong. I defo think the DHEA helped massively and it is worth a try, ask your clinic about it! Sending you a big hug at this crappy time!xx
Can I ask you a question about dhea, I am currently taking 75mg at 3 different times of the day but the dhea I have doesn't have this cqo10 that I see people writing about on here. Does it have to have this an if so where can u order it?
The DHEA doesnt have Coq10 in it. Its a separate supplement, you can get this in most supermarkets or google it. I didnt take it but heard some good results for others. Ubiquonal is meant to the be best type but you would have to get this online I think. Im not allowed to say places on the forum but its easy enough to find!xx
Im sorry I cant help with the dose for this as I didnt take it. I only took DHEA but perhaps put a new post up to see if other ladies can advise on dosage of coq1 or ubiquonal? Best of luck, do hope that it helps!xx
Hi Newqgirl1. Oh my poor girl, I'm so sorry to hear this, after everything was looking promising. Obviously, you need to speak to your embryologist, once you've got your breath back, and see whether it could have been down to egg quality, or whatever. Hopefully he/she may be able to shed some light on what they feel went wrong. I don't know how old you are, or what your hormones are like, but sometimes a course of DHEA can improve outcome. Lots to be asking. All I can do for now, is to wish you well with whatever decisions you make in the coming weeks, and obviously for success, if/when you try again. I know the girls here will support you, and some will have their stories of success after such a loss. Thinking of you. Diane
Ahhh I see, you're a chunk younger than me! However, a girl that I know of on here (younger than me) had good reserves and she took the DHEA after a disappointing first cycle which she felt helped with her quality. You can have a look at her posts Lucyloo81 . I hope you have better luck next time! Take care!xx
Really sorry to hear. I had it at my first round. Too much fragmentation and slow cleavage. They changed stimulation second time (from long to short protocol, from Gonal F to Menopur, double trigger for good final maturation) and it made all the difference. Fell pregnant at my first ever transfer (second IVF cycle) and have a whopping 7 high quality embies in the freezer too!
Don't despair, ask your medical team what they'll do different next time and you might hit the grand prize! I'm just over 23 weeks preggers now with a little girl...
Thanks for the message, encouraging to hear it can work out after all! We've just got to wait and see what the embryologist and drs say. Seems like an age to wait all over again but I'm glad they didn't just transfer them anyway and we'd have been left wondering why it failed π€·ββοΈ just another bump in the road!
I'm so sorry to hear about your embies! Hope you get healthy embryos soon for transfer from your next round of egg collection. Don't forget to ask your clinic about what went wrong. So that you can try and make provisions to rule that out in next round. Wish you good luck! XX
Thanks for the offer, that's very kind of you. We need to wait and find out what the drs say as they seemed to indicate they thought it was more male factor.
