Exercise on 2WW?

Hi Ladies,

Thought I'd stop googling and ask the question as this is driving me bonkers..

What's everyone's view on exercise in a 2WW? The first few months i was really careful, limited caffeine, no alcohol..but I love my spinning and exercise classes! I've heard mixed feedback on whether this is OK or not in the 2WW but spinning and my fat burn classes really help me mentally too.

The more months that pass the more I begrudge being careful as I feel I'm going to spend the next few months / years stopping and cutting out the things I enjoy!

Any opinions or advise would be appreciated!

My consultant advised no strenuous exercise only gentle! So I stuck to dog walks and gave up running for the two weeks! Good luck with it all xxx

I made loads of plans - saw friends, did boring admin work, anything to distract myself and make it go quicker! Thinking of you and hoping for the best outcome! Good luck! Xxx

I had loads of symptoms in week one (from the drugs) and they all wore off by week 2 so I was convinced it hadn't worked and ended up with a BFP, so you never know! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ xxx

I agree with robbie03 nothing to strenuous but I loved going for my dog walks, the tww is torture but having things planned to look forward to does help. Good luck xx

Thank you. There's a park near me so may just have to wander there after work! ๐Ÿ˜Šthanks x

Clinic told me no training. I like hiit and boot camp type workouts and she said no way! Gentle walking and a bike ride is ok as long as it's at a reasonable pace. Xx

Oh dear I've been keeping them up so been doing it all wrong! I've not done it this time and it's killing me ha. Will stick to the walking.

Is it due to implantation or general health just out of curiosity? Don't start treatment until end of year / Jan so not had chance to ask too many questions! Thanks so much x

I am a swimming so didn't swim in the 2ww as that's an infection risk. However I carried on after up to 35 weeks. I was told excercise to what your body is used to if fine but not to take up something strenuous if that helps

Like the others said, my clinic said nothing strenuous. I think it was to do with keeping your temperature down...same as they say no hot baths etc. but also to assist with implantation xxx

Are you doing IVF? My IVF clinic said nothing strenuous during the 2WW too. But my understanding is that in fact there are no decent studies to suggest that exercise has any impact on fertility or IVF. The study that is usually cited in relation to exercise is one concerning women TTC (so not the 2WW specifically) which has pretty flawed methodology - based only on women attending infertility clinics - so all the pregnant athletes out there who didn't have fertility issues fell outside its sample group. So I wouldn't beat yourself up about the exercise you've already done. Also, I did exercise during IVF until my ovaries became quite large during the stimms and then stopped to avoid ovarian torsion. My NHS clinic were fine to that. I should also add that despite not believing exercise really would do any harm during the 2WW in IVF I stuck to walking because (a) my ovaries were very enlarged (I got OHSS) and (b) even if they weren't enlarged I wanted to be able to look back and say that I did everything my clinic told me and the outcome if negative couldn't be my fault. Good luck - the 2WW whether on IVF or just naturally each month when TTC is brutal! X

Hey, thanks for that ๐Ÿ˜Šthat's very informative! not IVF yet so I'm very lucky in that regard as it's not up to that point. But I will be sent for clomid soon depending on hubbys sperm count (PCOS related).

I think I'll avoid the spinning...and do the more easy classes and take it slow. It's just been months now and I'm going to turn into a whale if I don't do anything! Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚x

I was also told no strenuous exercise and nothing that works the abs. I'm a big Pilates fan but was told that's definitely a no during the 2ww. I did lots of walking instead.
