TWW and work

Hi, just wondered if there are any other teachers out there? I know it's my own decision to make but was wondering what you did during the tww? I'm signed off until after test day but debating going back next week to keep myself busy. Really can't decide what to do.

Any advice or stories appreciated.

Cant really speak from experience as I had my 2ww in the holidays but as it turned out I wouldn't have been well enough for work anyway. It probably depends on what your class are like. Does your head know about your treatment so they could sort something out to take the pressure off if you did go back? You might find it more exhausting than you think. Good luck! x

Thank you for your reply. They are a energetic infant class but they are lovely.

Yes my HT is aware of what is going on.

Hope you are doing ok on your journey. xx

Maybe see if you could do some group work for a couple of afternoons to start with if you feel like you need to keep busy. Yes doing ok thanks, waiting for 7 week scan on the 25th and panicking nonstop about teaching PE or forest schools or getting grumpy with them for being too noisy. wish I could be off for the next week. How are you enjoying no more injections? X

Aww the 25th good luck. That is my test day.

Aww wow that sounds like an interesting job you have. I'm sure you can be forgiven for being a little bit grumpy.

I love having no injections to do. I bet you are the same. Xx

Hi, I'm a primary school teacher. I had my transfer 10th July (a Monday) and I asked for the Tuesday and Wednesday off too. Went back on Thursday, Friday, had the weekend and then it was last week of term (so very little stress). I found that I used the first 2 days to get myself together and relax and then to be honest going back in kept me busy. I had people in work who knew so they looked after me and made sure that I wasn't getting stressed out - if you have people who work closely with you who know then you can always lean on them. Had my BFP! Good luck xxx

For my first round I got signed off and was unsuccessful. For the second attempt I went back to work and it worked :)

Work is a great way of taking your mind off it all. Depending on how stressful you find it (hopefully not too stressful) I'd go back to work!

Good luck.

Hi N_M_10 I am also in primary teaching, although I am part of the SMT so my remit is different. I am currently going through my first round of ICSI, down regulating at the moment. I have absolutely no clue when or how long I need to take off, I am playing it by ear. I can't believe how tired I feel already! I find I'm ok between 9-3 and then as soon as the bell goes I feel like I could collapse! I was off in April for a few weeks because my first (and long awaited) pregnancy turned out to be ectopic so I had emergency surgery. That makes me reluctant to be off unless I have no other option. Although I am worried about the stress of the job and the impact on treatment. Can I ask how long you needed to take off during your cycle?

Now that I have started this journey I have to say that if any staff members told me they were going through it, I would be encouraging them to take all the time they need. This is far too important and work will still be there at the end of it all. Do what you feel is right, if it is a distraction you need then speak to your HT and see if you could even go back on a phased return if you don't feel up to full time.

Sending you lots of positive vibes, look after yourself and put yourself first! Xx

I'm a primary school teacher. I had transfer day off then 2 days after that. This time I'm doing FET and am considering just going straight in the day after. My class are really nice this year and I think it will keep my mind occupied but I have got an afternoon of PE so not sure how easy I can take it xx

Hi, when I had my 2 weeks off, I kept myself busy with housework :D Dusting, vacuuming, moping etc... The most exciting was going through my clothes! I even made a list of things to buy:) Also I reorganized everything to make my flat a safe place for a child. Moreover, I started practicing in Italian cuisine :D My hubby was so happy during this time 😁

I'm a teacher and currently in my 2ww. I had day of transfer off and was back in work the following day. I'm finding it ok, not easy but it's helping as it's keeping me busy. The last 2 embryo transfers I had both fell in the holidays so this is all new to me.

I have just tried to carry on as normal, as advised from my clinic. I just make sure I avoid stressful situations (hard as it is in our job) and don't do anything too strenuous. The people I work closely with know about my treatment so are helping me a great deal and looking after me.

Everyone's situation is completely different. I just knew if I was signed off I would go completely stir crazy. Lots of love and luck in your journey 💕💕

Hi, I'm a secondary school teacher, I was signed off in my second round for the second half of treatment, there was no way I was going to go into my mad school after embryo transfer until I knew either way what had happened!! Sadly i miscarried at 8 weeks, and I'd gone back after my first scan, and although there was nothing I could have done, i just felt the stress of the gcse exams can't have helped that time. See how you feel, but if you don't want to go back and you'd rather hang out drinking decaf coffee then do that! This is far more important! Xx

There are loads of us!

I worked both times, just didn't lift and stuff. I didn't get a bfp but I don't think it was because I worked. I think I would have gone mad if I'd stayed off, but it was hard when I started to bleed during my 2ww and I was at school when it started.
