Head Aches

Hi. I'm between 12 and 13 weeks pregnant and I have been having the most awful headaches but as I have not yet had my dating scan, I haven't had a chance to ask midwife if I can take anything for it.

Can I take paracetamol? If anyone knows that'd be really helpful.

Thanks.

Hi yes, you are fine to take paracetamol. Hope you feel better soon xx

You can take paracetamol, I had these for a good few weeks they are awful. Make sure you drink loads of water to help xxx

Hi Kempton. As "Tugsgirl" says, paracetamol should be fine. No anti inflammatories such as ibuprofen though. Might be an idea just to get your blood pressure checked. Chemist or GP/practice nurse would do that for you. Hope you soon feel better and it's just maybe a bit of a virus. Thinking of you. Diane

Hi, I'm 13wks pregnant and have been getting these intermittently for 2-3wks...they're awful aren't they? I'm a but funny about taking any meds, even paracetamol so I use that "forehead" stuff. You can get it from boots and it seems to offer temporary relief. I've also tried acupunture which helps too. I had my blood pressure checked and it was perfect so for me, I think it's just the hormones! xxx

Hi. Sounds a bit like it. Let's hope as your pregnancy progresses, all will settle down for you. Acupuncture is good, so at least you've found a way to get some relief. Such a lot going on with hormones and baby developing all his/her organs during the first 3 months, so could all be tied in. Apart from your headaches you are well, so that's good. If they worsen, you need to see your GP to check all is well. Oh, and maybe get an eye test too? Off to bed now, so night night! Diane
