Pessaries question

Hi everyone - I have noticed people posting about pessaries on here, saying it's normal to be on them for 6 weeks minimum but sometimes up to 12 weeks. I was only on my course of pessaries for 2 weeks and haven't taken any since. I am concerned that I should have asked about this at the clinic. I had my 6 weeks scan and baby was OK, just a little small. I am worried I should have been on the pessaries longer. To be honest I'm glad I wasn't on them for long as they gave me rectal bleeding (sorry! 😯) and they were really uncomfortable. I'm just wondering if anyone else was on a short course of pessaries? Am I worrying unnecessarily? Thanks all ❤️ xx

Hi, I called my clinic about this today as I thought the same but was told that if you get the bpf then you don't need to continue with the pessaries as I did a fresh transfer rather than frozen. Don't sure if that matches your circumstances? X

Yep I did fresh transfer too. They didn't mention it and I figured if it was really important they would have said something. I read somewhere that they only recommend longer course of pessaries if they feel that your body needs extra help, but I responded really well to the treatment and my blood tests and health checks had all been perfect up to then. I'm glad someone else was in same situation. Thanks for reassuring me xx

Hiya....Im on 4 x Utrogestan a day. I think 3 is usually the max dose but they upped mine after my progesterone level was low. Im meant to continue them until 12 weeks and Im currently 8 weeks. Im not totally convinced though as i have read lots of different things about them....plus i have had intermittent bleeding since week 5 and think this might be the pessaries irritating my cervix? I haven't had my progesterone tested for a few weeks now so not sure what effect they are having plus i read that by 9 weeks the placenta is established and that will produce sufficient progesterone any way.

Who knows!!! I will continue to take them as thats what my clinic have advised. xx

Thanks, I am 9 weeks this week but won't know know if everything is OK until week 12. When were your progesterone levels checked? My clinic didn't do any blood tests and the only appointment I've had since my BFP has been my 6 week scan. As with you, I'm trusting the clinic knows what they are doing 😊

They did a few blood tests after I had some bleeding to check everything was ok before my scan at 7 weeks. If you have had your scan and all is well then hopefully they are confident you don't need the extra progesterone. I will be 9 weeks on this Friday so we must be close on dates! xx
