Hi ladies, I has my scan on day 5 on gonal f(150 UI) and they found only 3 follicles. That's a bummer because I was expecting more as I developed more than that on clomid 50 mg. They have upped my dose to 225 UI and asked me to come again after 2 days. On the top of it they could not find my left ovary and assumed nothing happening on it. Has anyone of you had the similar experience and ended up in more eggs during the retrieval?

Only 3 follies on day 5 scan
Hi, my last cycle started off quite similarly. At my baseline scan they decided to increase my drugs to.max dose as things looked so 'quiet'. I had six on day 5 but very small and was thinking the worst but ended up with 13 eggs collected so was happy with that. In the 2ww at the moment so dont know if its worked but trying to be positive.
Try not to worry, fingers crossed there will be more showing at your next scan. Wishing you lots of luck xxx
Ps my right ovary sits really high and was really tricky to scan, in fact in my first consultant appointment he couldnt find it at all. As the folicles grew it became much easier to scan though so hopefully yours will be jumping out at them next scan xx
Thanks it's really reassuring. Can you please let me know what dose you were on finally? The size of my eggs were on an average 10 and thickness of endometrium was fine(as was told by nurse)
I was on different drugs to you so not sure it is really comparable. I was on 300 merional for first cycle. They changed me to bemfola for second round initially keeping it at 300 but increasing to 450 (max) following base line scan. Hope your next scan goes well, just remember it only takes 1! X
Hi mupcake. I can understand how disappointing this must have been for you, but hopefully with the increased drug dose, you will stimulate more when you go for your next scan. Hopefully the 2nd ovary will be accessible too. It does happen unfortunately, but quite often under sedation we can find the 2nd ovary, usually with viable follicles on it too. Hang on in there, and hopefully next scan will be so much better. thinking of you. Diane
Thank you Diane, really helpful. Just want to be prepared for all outcomes therefore I would appreciate your thoughts on following -
Though i am aware it is all about quality of the eggs and not quality, there still has to be just enough numbers to have a good probability of a successful transfer. If my follicles don't increase to 7,8; I am thinking of postponing my egg transfer. I am however on nhs funded cycle therefore not sure how much leverage I have in taking this decision. Based on your experience, is that a right thing to do? More importantly do you know if I can make this decision or nhs won't let me?
Hi mupcake. Unfortunately, the NHS will have their set criteria as to how to proceed. They will most likely use a viable embryo now, and hopefully there will be some to freeze. They will only freeze all embryos if you hyper stimulate, then do a transfer 1-2 months later. Ask them what their policy is. good luck! Diane
Diane on day 7 scan too they can't see any increase in the number of follicules. We are progressing with this number as it can only be cancelled where they find only 1. Does that mean I have low egg reserve? As ivf itself is a diagnostic process they said that AMH test is not going to reveal anything new. Is that true?
