I had it with my daughter. It's nothing to worry about. As long as when your waters break you get to delivery suite ASAP baby needs to.l be born within 24 hours of them breaking or baby will be at high risk of infection. I couldn't have a water birth because I needed iv of oxcytocin to bring contractions quicker and I think they gave me something else. I ended up. Having emergency c section because her heart beat slowed down due to oxytocin. Thank fully she was fine and she now 3 years 9 month. I'm not trying to scare you just giving you two different stories of strep b. My sister had it she didn't know her waters broke she was expecting the "gush ' she just thought she was wetting herself eventually she told my mum after a whole evening and night of this and my grandma said her waters had broke they toke her to hospital she gave birth vaginally everything seemed fine then she noticed her son jiddering first they said he was fine then she started panicking they did tests and he had infection was in baby unit for 10 days. He's nearly 8 now but that was because she didn't give birth in the time frame of waters breaking. Hope this helps and hope I haven't scared you. You'll be fine just get to delivery suite in time xx

Did you get a letter telling you about it. They'll definitely add it to your notes and when it's time for delivery you just remind them and if you ever think you are wet or your waters broke just get there the v worst that can happen is they haven't broke I went in so many times thinking they broke especially after my sister. It can't do anything while pregnant it's the passing through birth canal and the amniotic fluid not there to protect baby. Just be alert when it comes to time. Don't worry now though I know it's hard but the midwives will reasure you xx

Did you do a private test for this? I've read about it but it's says to do the test later in pregnancy. Im gonna pay for a private one if my midwife won't agree to do it on the NHS for me. Xx

I am interested to know about this too as my midwife said NHS don't test as it can come and go. Are we supposed to buy a test and do it around the time of our due date so we know if we do or don't have it prior to labour but not too early?

You could just go to doctors and say you been having yellow discharge, and when they test you for things it should come up otherwise a private test.. disgusting they don't test. Say your pregnant as midwife will only tell you to go to the doctors, and if it comes back you have it they will treat you in labour for it good to know if you have it mind. What happened with me I had it nearly 2 years ago, didn't really get the importance of it then googled it cause I got pregnant thru Ivf and seen what it could be. But thought I might have a yest infection and turns out I haven't it's the group strep b the doctor said but midwife would have treated me for it and wouldn't have test me for it. But atleazt I know now xx
