EC day- no make up πŸ‘»

Hello ladies

I'm aware I sound very shallow but I've just read on my letter not to wear deodorant/ nail polish/ make up etc.

I'll give everyone a fright lol !

So does this mean face moisturiser too, I have painted toe nails and finger nails so I can get rid of that no issue, just wondered if I'm allowed to wear a teeny weeny bit like concealer and lip balm. Anyone else go in completely bare?!

Thanks xx

Crickey I went completely bare as soon as having treatment apart from cocoa butter moisturiser for fear of the chemical risk on my eggs. I'm starting to feel a bit OTT.

All operations say no nail polish as they need to keep checking your nails to make sure you are getting enough oxygen under anaesthetic.

Everyone goes in looking like rubbish, you are there to have an operation no one is going to be frightened but certain chemicals will effect the eggs/embryos so best to go completely bare. You can take it all with you and repaint away when you are done with EC. Should only be for a few hours. x

I'll be in really early so will have my morning head on and not care lol might stick a simple moisturiser on tho but otherwise I'm going in all out, joggers , hoodie , slippers , hair slicked back and no make up and get straight into bed when I'm home! X

I went completely bare and tbh felt a little uncomfortable after EC so just came home and laid on the sofa. I wouldn't worry to much they're focus wont be on your face lol I put some simple moisturiser on my face in the morning but that was all x

Lol πŸ˜‚ this is true, we're in really early as well 7.30 am so I'm still gonna have my morning head on and won't really care about what I look like, I may have to stick some moisturiser on tho, thanks for your response xx

That's okay, I can understand why your asking.. this journey can make us feel exposes enough without then having to feel 'bare faced' to but honestly it'll be worth not wearing anything. Wishing you lots of luck xx

True and seeing as they've seen EVERYTHING my bare face is nothing lol. Just routine to stick a bit of slap on to look a bit more alive , I'm sure a few hours won't hurt and yes I hope it's all worth it! Good luck with your journey too xx

Lip balm should be fine. I wouldn't wear concealer because they need to see if you look pale and unwell! But you could always wear it for the journey then remove it with a cleansing wipe as you get into your gown, and reapply afterwards x

I've always worn makeup; foundation, eyeliner and face powder as I have acne. I never cake it on though. No one told me not to.. I was told no nail varnish but that's so they can see if your nails turn blue due to low oxygen levels I think.. I was also told no perfumes and I've stuck to that rule xx

Thanks, me too! It's just routine and natural , I'm not talking about looking like a clown, just enough to feel comfortable, deffo will avoid the perfumes and nail polish xx

I had moisturiser on when I went in, but nothing else. I was a little unwell after the anaesthetic, so no make up was the least of my worries!

Good luck with it x

I know this sounds really mad but I've just had gel on my hands & toes & I'm due for egg collection in the next 2 weeks, do I need to get both removed? X

They'll probably say yes you do at your clinic but I do think one lady was told she could just have a couple of gel nails removed. Check with your clinicz
