Hi, we were referred over for ivf last week, problem so far with hubby. I am freaking out over it all and the few friends i have told can only tell me how exciting it is, partly because they dont know the full story, a story i will attempt to share now. I had a rough childhood involving a boyfriend of my aunty, ill leave the blanks to be filled in, my hubby is unaware of this history, my main concern here is will it be something that they will ask? I cant imagine they would but a post when i googled seemed to suggest it would be a question on the form, can anyone reassure me that it wont come up, or tell me that it will so i can prepare myself!!

Thanks in advance.

Hi i was exactly the same worrying over things and had to tell my partner things i hoped were in the past. Im not sure ive filled the blanks in correctly but one question is have you had any previous pregancies and how they ended. I cant think of any other questions they ask xx

Sorry you have this burden that you are carrying around with you! They wont ask anything like what you are imagining! They only want to know about your gynae history for example smear tests, any medical treatment you may have had and previous pregnancy! Try not to worry about the blanks, you're safe!xx

I had treatment on the NHS and wasn't asked any questions that might touch on the blanks. You have to fill out a form concerned with making sure your child will be safe - but that asks questions about what is happening in your life now and making sure your home is a safe place (no domestic violence at home, child safety offences or reasons you couldn't care for a child etc) and doesn't go into the past. You do get a lot of internal scans as part of IVF (a dildo-looking ultrasound device). That doesn't hurt at all, but I just mention it as something to prepare yourself for. The process will involve a lot of doctors and sonographers "down there". Although it is all done in a very clinical and professional way. Xx
