Hey ladies, I had my first scan at our clinic the other day, no drugs - just to see what's going on before they start interfering I guess haha. Anyway, I had 10 follicles on each side, the nurse said this is great but I'm still feeling negative as although I know the stimulating drugs make the count go up I know you don't get an egg from all of them. And they're not all mature. And then they don't all fertilise. And then they don't all make it to transfer/freeze. And I'm just pannicking that I'm gonna end up with none! I know I sound crazy, but I feel like my original gynaecologist sent me down this negative path by telling my that ovaries don't always behave normally after a hydrosalpinx/salpingectomy, although the nurse at the ivf clinic did tell me this isn't true ?!
Can anyone tell me their positive follicle stories to help put my mind at ease 🙏🏽🥚🍳🥚🍳🥚🍳

First count at 10 each side sounds good to me.. we had a similar number 👍. After id done down reg drugs nurse said she expected 13 in total with a few lagging behind that might catch up and we ended up having 22 eggs collected 😁 stay positive and good luck xx
Thank you Alice , I am trying to stay positive- I'm just a worrier; a planner and am struggling with the fact that I have no control over anything ! 🙉 and the gynaecologist saying I might not do as well is just ringing in my ears ! But with positive words from you ladies and the nurse ..... I'm feeling a bit better , thank you 😊 x x
The nurse just told me as she counted them on the screen. She didn't discuss much more with me, just told me that I would find out more in my consultation with the doctor 🙂 And yes that's probably right, can't think what else she would've been writing down?

Ahh your lucky i didn't get told anything haha! she just said that it all looks good .. but like you now my head is going into overdrive about how many there are ect!
I have my first consultation on the 12th July so i think i will find out when i start then and discuss the scan, it just cant come quick enough!
What about you, do you know when you start or same situation waiting for your consultation?x
Oh they've done ours the opposite way round , we had consultation, he sent us off with a list of tests to get done with gp etc (which we have done now, apart from one booked for Monday) and then we go back for review to discuss next steps! I'm just waiting for the letter with the appointment now - and I HATE waiting just tell me when it is!! 😩😫haha x
Ohh yeah complete opposite way around! I had all my tests and blood tests done months ago so there going to have to be re-done now because im guessing they will be out of date! Same as that feels like forever your waiting! im hoping on the 12th all information will be given and i know the actual date i will be starting!! x
Just to add my positive. I had one of my tubes remove 2 months before I stared my ivf . At my first consultation before any drugs I already had 20 follicles of mixed sizes I have pcos. During the process some did disappear. But in the end had about 50 follices. EC done 30 follicles 22 contains eggs 15 fertilized and now I have 5 lovely frosties waiting for me. Stay positive . My clinic was shocked at all this as they gave me the a miniature dose of the stimulatingredients drugs.
Oooh 50 follicles ! I've never heard of that many , you must've been at massive risk of ohss. Hope you didn't get poorly. I've been told I'll be doing short protocol but not about drugs/ dosage yet. 5 Frosties is a good number , hopefully you only need the one eh 🙂 When is your transfer? X x
Ohhh I did get quite poorly after . My fresh transfer was cancelled :(. I was very upset at the time but after getting poorly I was so thankful it was cancelled. Yes that is true only one is needed. But I'm sure with so much follicles you'll be spoilt for choice.so im staying postitve. I'm waiting for my next period. Which is due round about 24th July . I will be going for an information session next week with the clinic to find out more about fet.
Yes I would be devastated at first but in reality you want your body to be at its healthiest ! Well good luck for the transfer and hopefully it's the outcome we dream of ! 🌈💫👶🏼 X
Aw it's so hard this journey, we worry about every little detail! Before our fresh round last year I'd had my left tube removed and major excision surgery for endometriosis. Think I had 6 follicles each side before we started stims. At egg collection they couldn't get to my left ovary (probably due to scar tissue). Managed to get 9 eggs from my 'good' side, 6 were mature, 5 fertilised (we used ICSI) and we ended up with 3 good quality blasts. We had one put back and two frozen. Fresh cycle and first FET both ended in early miscarriage but fingers crossed our last frostie is the one! Xxx
Thanks hun, those were mc 3 & 4 for me so currently having some testing done for natural killer cell levels. I've had one NK Cell biopsy done last month and have the second one this month or next month, then hopefully a natural FET the month after, so maybe September or October xxxx
I'd recommend making sure you drink plenty of water (couple of litres a day if you can) and eating a good amount of protein as this will help things along xxxxx
