Hello, first ever post. Started my first ivf cycle today. Short protocol, injections started tonight just wondered if anyone is currently going through the same thing?

Good luck! I'm going to be starting hopefully in a few months x
Good luck! How was your first injection? My first IVF was a short protocol! I remember my other ivf chum being really jealous because there weren't as many injections!
Welcome to the forum! Looking forward to seeing how your journey is going! x
Hello, it was absolutely fine. Id got myself in such a state beforehand but I dont know why i was so worried. Are you going through ivf currently? X
It's a big deal, right?! I promise that by the time you're done you'll be a pro! I've just been through my second cycle... I've got pretty naff eggs and not many so we changed tactic and went for donor egg ivf. I got my positive pregnancy test result two and a half weeks ago x
Oh wow thats fantastic - huge congratulations! Yeah i think now ive got that first injection out of the way ill be ok it was just the initial thing and not really knowing how it would feel. Its good to hear a happy outcome xx
Hey hayleigh,
I'm on my first cycle of long protocol so loads more injections lol.
I would say one thing though, after a few days you become a injection pro and they really don't seem like such a big thing any more.
Best of luck to you!!
Xx
Thank you, ive got PCOS so thats why I am on the short protocol which im quite happy about lol. Have you just started your cycle? The injection really wasnt as bad as i thought it was going to be, although i did waste 2 amps of the powder because i couldnt quite get the hang of it at first x
I actually just finished. My embryo transfer was Monday that just past and my test date is next Friday. I'm over analysing every cramp and boob soreness. Lol
Just gotta wait it out 😕
Oh good luck! Surely thats got to be the hardest part of it all? Is it your first cycle? X
Yep, first cycle and it's a fresh one. It's hard.
I was at risk of overstimulation so I had blood tests and scans everyday whilst stimming. At this point I don't know what to do with myself, no injections, no trips to the hospital.
I should obviously be happy about that. It it just feels weird:/
Best of luck to you my dear xx
What's your story if you are happy to share? X
Well im 31, ive been ttc since the minute i was married (7 years in sept). I was diagnosed last year with PCOS. I had known for a number of years that I had it but the doctor saud I didnt so I changed doctors and got the diagnosis. Other than that im in good health and hubby is absolutely fine. We initially decided against ivf but that changed once I turned 30. Thats pretty much it - how about you? X
It's a long wait isn't it! I wish you all the best - I know a few people who have children conceived naturally and with ivf who have pcos. I'm 36, partner 41. I had a cone biopsy to remove abnormal cells several years ago then an infection 2 weeks later. After 3 years of Ttc I've just found out that I have hardly any cervix left due to the cone biopsy and the infection blocked both my tubes. So now ivf and potential pre pregnancy surgery for a TAC stitch may be needed. I've had 3 HSGs, hysteroscopy and laparoscopy to find all this out! But ovaries, uterus and sperm all seem good x
Wow you have certiainly been through the mill.. there must be some relief in knowing whats going on and planning the next steps forward? I hope you get yojr happy ending xx
All the research and options and thinking is frazzling my brain! Sometimes it all feels overwhelming but trying to be positive and calm - just wish it was all less complicated and that choices were more clear cut - it's a long old journey but hopefully worth it in the end xx
Oh wow hayleigh- snap! I am you... Just a year older lol.
32, married 8 years this October and PCOS,
I just completed my first short cycle IVF and transfer was Tuesday just gone.
I actually responded really well to the drugs and only hyper stimulated slightly after the massive egg collection I had!
I was not prepared for the after effects of that! My stomach is the size of a beachball!
But yes the injections are fairly simple and you will get the hang of it- just DO NOT PANIC. Everything that is drummed into you is important (so don't ignore it) but the process is not nearly as rigid as you might think.
Hope all goes well for you !
Thank you for replying, thats great that we have so many similarities. Im really hopeful that you get the result you want. Can i ask how many follicles you had? When i had my scan yesterday (CD3) i had 21 - is that good? X
21 sounds good! For us pcos ladies the extra follicles usually come in handy about now.
I think I started off with about 19 anyway....
It took until about day 8 before they really started to go and then accelerated by day 10. Day 13 I had about 30 follicles on each ovary!
In the end they collected 25 eggs which is why I was so sore! And bloated after.
I would say don't compare too much or worry too much about the details... Esp with pcos things can change very quickly.
The best thing about short cycle is you get very limited side effects compared to long cycle- so less mood swings and hormone rollercoasters!
Just enjoy the process and relax as much as possible
I am! Also on short protocol. Been ingecting since Sunday. Going in for my Day 7 scan this morning. This is my first round. Happy to chat : )
