Advice on caffeine and intercourse before 12 weeks?
I cut out the caffeine completely from before ivf started. Haven't heard anything about avoiding intercourse
My nurse said that if we wanted to have intercourse within 24 hrs of egg retrieval we had to use a condom due to infection risk. No word of anything else, which I take as you can do whatever you want!
Sorry I don't know from your post if you are pregnant and you are taking about first 3 months but if so I read 200mg of caffeine a day when pregnant across all drinks so switched to decaf everything. Sex is fine as baby is protected
Official nhs advice in UK is no more than 200mg caffeine (I limit myself to 1 tea and 1 coffee max each day). Nhs advice for sex is no evidence that harms pregnancy in anyway and completely safe. However, me and dh are avoiding for now as if I bled or miscarried, think I would always question! It's taken us so long to get here that I don't want to risk anything. Think I will feel a bit more relaxed after 12 week scan! A long wait I know, but for us it feels right to be ultra safe xx
Yep I'm with you on that one Anna - feel far too nervous and nauseous to even contemplate sex until we get to our next scan but when we didn't even have sex to get pregnant and I had horrendous swelling etc during the IVF so didn't feel like it then...basically it's been a very long time! Oh well it's a small price to pay!x
Hi del92 I loved my coffee before ..I had like 3to 4 a day but I stop it when we had transfer day till now . I even drink decaf tea ... Intercourses will not do any harm to u ...we even had when we was on 2ww and still do ☺️ We expecting girl I'm 38weeks and we gonna meet her in week time ... What I'm trying to say just don't be scarred go for it .... closure with your hubby will make u only good.... one coffee a day will not do any harm to u but is your choice . Xx
Sex is fine unless you start to bleed. Unfortunately I did after sex at about 7 weeks of natural pregnancy and i a miscarried. I'm pretty sure it was completely coincidence but next time we will abstain! X
My clinic stipulated no caffeine and no sex for first 12 weeks, however most NHS advice says sex is fine and so is limited caffeine. I followed the clinic advice to the rule, but that's me xx
