Scan wasn't great news today. Baby is still alive and growing well but I have got some really rare condition that means the dead twin is still growing and is putting healthy baby at risk of heart failure or bring on labour any time. Got to go to the QE in Birmingham to see what happens next if anything? Warwick hospital never come me across it before so can't tell me anything at all. Has anyone ever heard of TRAP?

It's all just a bit shit when we should be able to tell everyone and celebrate xx

There is so much that modern medicine can do, and doctors have to give you the worst case scenario, but that doesn't mean it will happen. So as hard as it is try to wait for the specialist appointment and distract yourself so as not to worry about those worst case scenarios. But this must be very scary and a horrible thing to have to deal with - sending you the very best xx

I'm sorry to read your post. This happened to a friend of ours too. I don't know the ins and outs so I can't say too much about what specifically was done to help them but I can say they have one lovely baby girl now whose healthy and thriving. They were so strong and focused on keeping their lovely girl. Best of luck to you xx

Hi Hormomalmess. So sorry to hear about this. I assume that you have had the condition explained thoroughly to you. I know the team at the QE in Birmingham, and they have had much success in treating this condition. We had a lady here recently who had two pairs of twins (quads) with TTTS. A bit like you, but they had successful surgery in the womb that saved all 4 of them - amazing. I have seen a procedure done with TRAP which enabled the healthy twin to grow normally without any strain on his heart, and was delivered at 36 weeks without any complications. They're a great team at the QE, so trust them, for they will discuss fully the best way to go with your pregnancy. I wish you HUGE luck and I shall be thinking of you. Diane

Thanks for you reply Diane, it's always nice to read some positive news. As currently I can only focus on the negative.

We have our appointment on Wednesday in Birmingham. Am hearing great things about the team there and just hope they can save our little bean as not sure I can cope with any more bad news. Xx

Hi. I do hope all goes well on Wednesday. They might just keep an eye on you for now, and check twin No. 1 is not being overworked. I only ever actually saw one procedure done, but heard of other successful ones too. Oh and the one I saw worked! Do let me know how it goes if you can. Diane
