Hi. I'm new to this forum and looking for some support from people who how difficult it is trying to conceive. Has anyone been to the support group meetings and did they find them helpful? X
Support Groups: Hi. I'm new to this... - Fertility Network UK
Support Groups
Welcome Jacs. Do you mean support groups at the hospital? Or ones that are set up nationally? I don't think I've come across many. Hopefully you'll find here a great source of support too xx
Hi Emu2016. The fertility network site says there are some locally to me (Cheshire) and I was wondering about attending one. I have my first appointment at the fertility clinic on 11th April after being in the hands of gynaecology for 14 months so I'm not sure what they offer yet. X
Wow, I've never noticed those before! I'm going to have to have a look!
Not long until your appointment; it'll be good to get some answers and a plan. x
It will be good to have a plan. I feel like I've been in limbo for so long and my life is on hold. I had a missed miscarriage in Jan 16 which resulted in surgical management and my periods stopped for a year. I had a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy a few weeks ago and the discharge nurse told me my womb is atropic and damaged but not how badly so just left us with the bombshell and made us wait until our next appointment. X
Good grief. What a journey so far. Good luck for 11th. Hopefully you'll have some clarity. xx
I've never been to one but would love to I'm in Rowley Regis, I think meeting other people in person would really help 😘
Hello Jacs,
I hope the forum helps, the fertility clinic I attended offered it's own counselling which you could access with no wait as soon as you started going, so that's might be worth checking out,
Good luck 😊
I didn't know there were national ones.i found an independent group by accident that meet every month-thinking of going this month, bit nervous tho as I'd be on my own x
Where is the one you have found? I'm looking for one in Cheshire. I'd be on my own too as I know it's not something my husband would want to do x
The one I found is surbiton in Surrey-a journalist who is struggling with her own fertility issues and set it up.yeah my partner is working but I doubt he wouldve gone with me anyway!! He can barely talk to me about it all, let alone strangers x
I went to my first support group a few weeks ago felt quite teary going in and nervous but I think it was a good thing to do because ppl share stories ask questions and your probably get some useful information out of it. It was mainly women only one couple who attended. I was lucky that they had a nutritionist speaking to the group giving tips and advice and it was really useful. I figure that we have to give everything a try and it's free so why not. Hope you find somewhere local in Cheshire xxx
