Hey, I'm probably getting ahead of myself here but I'm due to have my first egg collection some time in the next fortnight and I know that if you get a lot of embryos they freeze some. I also know that for me that still counts as 1 cycle so I can have the frozen embryos transferred on the NHS. What I was wondering is; what happens if you have loads? Or can it lead to several frozen embryo transfers or do they defrost them all for the first one? As I say it's probably irrelevant to me, I'm just curious.

Question about frozen embryos and the NHS.
Hi, good luck for your egg collection and transfer, hope you get a bfp 😊
My understanding of what we've been told was that they freeze all good quality embryos, then depending on your age/clinic policy they would defrost one or two for transfer, if they don't defrost well then they would defrost another one or two. They only defrost what they need at the time, any remaining stay frozen in case they are needed for another go. Hope that helps x
Hi
Good luck with your upcoming egg collection. I had EC just over week ago. I ended up with 29 eggs and 20 fertilised, however by day 5 I had one top quality blast put back in and only ended up with 5 blastocysts to freeze out of 20. From my understanding where I live I get 1 got a FET if this cycle doesn't end up with a live birth. After that one go they still freeze the others and il have to pay. But I'm not sure about how many they defrost I guess it's depending on the quality of the embryo when it was frozen x
