Blood when injecting?

Hey ladies, quick question in panic mode - when I injected my cetrotide this morning and pulled the needle out a LOAD of blood came trickling out...it wasn't pumping/gushing, but more like a very big droplet of blood that ran all down my tummy! What does this mean? Should I be concerned? Hope I've not wasted that shot 😖😖 xxx

I can't help here..is there a number for your clinic you could call for advice. .I am sure it is nothing but for peace of mind might be worth checking xxxx

Hi Strawb86. It means you've hit a tiny capillary (blood vessel)! You should press hard if it happens again and it will soon stop. Next time, when you put needle in, pull the plunger back a bit and if clear you can inject. If any blood comes back in the syringe, pull the needle back a bit then inject. Not harmful, but you may bruise. Good luck next time! Diane

I think I had a small amount of bleeding once with one of mine - I think if it's not gushing and has stopped you probably just hit a vein on the way in - I don't think it would impact the effect of the cetrotide - but as Vic says, worth trying to call a nurse or similar at your clinic if you can to put your mind at rest as you don't want extra worries at this stage! Don't worry. It happened to me a few times. At the end of the day you are sticking a sharp pointy object in your belly x

Hey Sunnysam! No they're not bad at all., don't worry I had a bit of itching on the first day but totally fine the rest of them (try injecting it really slowly if it does get itchy). I just seem to be in a habit of catching capillaries when I do mine! Wishing you lots of luck for your cycle! xx

Well I feel like I messed mine up today! Massive air bubbles and the plunger had a mind of its own I did have tiny spots of blood after and it's red an hour after still and was a little itchy! You've given me hope for the next 8 lol I know what to do but can't help reading instructions lol all the best with your cycle too xx

Completely understandable, give yourself as much time as you need to grieve this cycle. You will bounce back when you're ready and be stronger than ever I have no doubt. I hope work eases you back in nicely! Xxx
