Hi ladies, I'm busy preparing for ivf cycle 3 and had some basic immune bloods done. When I spoke to my gp she said my clotting result is abnormal and I need to discuss this with my consultant. Any experience of clotting abnormalities and there impact on ivf?

Probably depends on which type of disorder you have but I have Hughes syndrome that only affects me in pregnancy - it can cause early miscarriage because the blood doesn't flow to the uterus properly. In IVF it meant for me that from the time I got my positive pregnancy test, I took baby aspirin and injected heparin to thin the blood for the duration of pregnancy. It didn't affect the outcome of IVF but it did affect the outcome of the pregnancy. I was lucky enough to become pregnant in my first cycle and have 6 month old twins now. If it is the same as what I have, then you will be retested in 12 weeks to confirm. It's also called antiphospholipid syndrome. There are other clotting disorders that also affect pregnancy and I would think the treatment would be similar. It's great that your GP has picked up on this, it took a few miscarriages before I was diagnosed. There is a Hughes support page on here too if this is what you have.
