Still continuing with my clexane injections have stopped doing them in my stomach now as finding it a bit tricky! So started doing them in my thighs now but it's really sore :(. Has anyone got any tips?

Thank you! X

Some quick tips... definitely make sure you have pinched the skin properly and are injecting that, check the angle of the needle point and ensure it enters the skin the right way up and finally... Ice cubes before and after! Hope this helps :)

is it the injection itself that hurts or afterwards? I'm a nurse and clexane is notoriously stingy! My patients find ice beforehand helps numb the area.

The injection hurts a bit but the lumps afterwards are proving very painful. I've not been rubbing it! Doesn't happen every time either. I think I'm more looking for a way of easing the pain in the lumpy bruised bits I already have.

sounds like you're getting a bruise under the skin, make sure you're putting the needle in far enough so its sub cutaneous not sub dermal... Otherwise it sits under the skin and doesn't absorb well, also commit with the needle, quicker is better and bruises less, and relax the skin pinch as you're injecting, hold it in for a few seconds after injecting too before removal, helps stop bleeding under the skin. You could also try arnica cream for the old bruises (over the counter)

I am using clexane at the moment and am finding it more painful than all of the other injections that I've had to do so far! I've been trying different techniques every day for reducing the pain, and last night I tried icing the area first, and of course pinching the skin. The ice worked wonders, it's the first time that I haven't felt it at all. Give that a go I would say!
